Do it! The initial work is probably larger, but the payoff is a hugely stable system.

NixOs everywhere except my phone. It takes about 2 hours to go from blank drive to 100% identical device when a drive fails. Can't beat it.

The school drop off/pickup thing is the most carbrained thing I've ever seen in c/fuck_cars@lemmy.ml

I live across the street from an elementary school and my driveway is blocked every single day. Including Fridays when I have lunch with my father, who lives out of town, and need to... Park in my driveway. Parents and school districts are inconsiderate fucks.
