one of the NPCs references Rosa Parks

I'm old enough to remember when "Are you triggered, snowflake!!!" was a thing these dorks used to scream at anyone who looked they're way.

Some of them are families of hostages

Imagine getting up in front of a legislative body and announcing "My child was kidnapped on that fateful day of October 7th, and now I am asking you - my friends, my neighbors, my parliamentary representatives - to make sure absolutely no food or water enters the region that they are being held".

I think there's some tacit concession that Israelis won't be happy until the hostages are dead and properly martyred.

I understand that there is a lot going on in this world today

God damn. Love for my Senate Grandpa to talk to me like a fucking baby.

Anyone else miss when he'd talk about doing Universal Medicare or ending the housing crisis, rather than having some ChatGPT ass intern whine about how they're afraid Republicans might win again?

I'd say the Jordanian based US troops getting hit is news primarily because it illustrates the scope of the conflict is growing. This isn't just a fight in Gaza anymore. It isn't just a shootout with Yemen. Now we've got yet another US ally where bombs are sporadically dropping onto US soldiers' heads.

Like, if I was part of CENTCOM and my job was to grind the bones of the Arab working class to make my bread, this sort of shit would keep me up at night in the way Israel-doing-warcrimes-again didn't.

Well, you know how those Brits feels about the accumulation of disposables. That's why its illegal to sell water by the bottle or food in those Styrofoam clam shell containers.

There are technically more rules around owning, trading, and publicly disclosing your trades as a Congressperson than as a lay citizen. And even then, I believe you can get into trouble for receiving insider information as a quid pro quo.

But all that is moot, because these people are utterly insulated from the prosecutorial process (unless they're Cori Bush or Ilhan Omar and they've pissed off a high ranking member of the state gestapo). The ranking committee people are never going to be prosecuted for the same reason guys like Dick Cheney and Larry Summers will never be prosecuted. They're made men.

Doesn't matter even if true, still a war crime.

I mean, I'm just surprised they didn't bomb the hospital straight out.

You are never allowed to target injured persons who have laid down arms or are hospitalized, enemy combatant or no.

Well, the article says "Gunmen", so I assume they had berettas soddered to their hands a la Guns Akimbo.

They were hospitalized Hamas Gunmen and we know that because... uh... Israel said so.

it was super serious business about her doing insider trading

I swear I've read about this story a dozen times and heard jokes about it a thousand times, but I'm still completely in the dark as to what she was actually trading with insider information.

Meanwhile, we've got a litany of sitting state and federal bureaucrats - from Ken Paxton to Richard Burr - who just have cases languish or drop after the initial inquiry breaks. I know way more about the specifics of their cases than I ever heard about Stewart.
