I'm old enough to remember when Iraq was supposed to have the 5th largest military in the world, and Operation Desert Shield was the most comprehensive conflict our nation had embarked upon since Vietnam.

Now we've scrubbed Iraq, Afghanistan, and Vietnam from the brain logs. A militia of Radio Shack nerds living in one of the poorest countries on earth now present the biggest threat to US Naval Operations since the Empire of the Rising Sun waged war against the entire Pacific Rim.

Really makes you think...

It's important to recognize that the story is, first and foremost, bullshit. They're lying liars who lie.

Chinese folks in the upper classes are living high on the hog in every sense. They're traveling. They're eating out lavishly. They're driving big imported SUVs. They're blowing fat stacks at casinos and resorts. They are having wild sex and doing tons of drugs.

What they aren't doing is maxing their scores out on the USD leaders board. We don't have a handful of aspiring trillionaires demanding that the Hansang Index double every five years. Major media centers and industrial hubs aren't being collected and traded like baseball cards. Housing is not for speculation, it is for living in.

That's what The Economist is agitating over. Not that Chinese elites are suffering, but that they're failing to ante up into the Blackjack table that is American Capitalism.

It was a different time! Nobody knew slavery was bad yet!

Say what you will about the guy who actually kicked off a Civil War, but look at these TikToks.

He's lucky to be in the top 5.

That's basically what the MSM implies for the rest of the non-Western World.

My wife was very upset when she saw they were sold out, because she was convinced you could resell them for 10x that the next time Trump visited Houston.

This isn't even strictly new. I remember taking one of these obnoxious training tests during an automated phone interview 20 years ago, trying to get a job at Best Buy. I remember one of my managers at a boutique IT firm - first job out of college - insisting that everyone take an Emotional IQ Test, which we then proceeded to mock relentlessly in her presence until she stopped asking for it. My current employer seems content to stick with the CYA "please take this flash animation test so you can't plausibly deny knowing what embezzlement is" once a year 15 minute trainers. But these astrology-adjacent weed-out exams mostly feel like HR busy-work. I have no idea how they're justified within the business itself, but I'm sure some slick con-artist has a two hour long PowerPoint that explains how you can give them $1M and make $50M worth of problems go away.

“I think we’re going to reach a breaking point in labor soon. employers have gone completely off the rails and people are exhausted,” a Twitter user claimed. Americans are feeling disenchanted by their jobs and staring down the barrel of a long job market, these personality tests are all enough to leave us feeling, well … blue.

What are the lumpen proletariat going to do about it? Bosses doing phrenology on their hiring pool isn't something any individual can resist. And when you're a monopsony for labor, who else is going to hire you except the guy with the ouija board and the crayon up his nose?

All these articles are by people who suck, so YMMV

But the short of it is that Tucker pulled a Boris Yeltsin and geeked out over a Moscow grocery store during his Putin Interview trip.

At some point there was an article on some website that did a long-form physics take down of the Tomb Raider series, in which they justified the giant boobies by claiming they were a counterweight to all the guns she was carrying. I'm glad I can't find it, because I'm sure it hasn't aged well. But "um aktuly, you need 36 HH tits to run across this ancient stone beam while carrying 40 lbs of guns and ammo" still gives me a sensible chuckle.

We didn't do agitprop on Reddit with Navy TikToks. This was the missing ingredient.

We're going to liberate Yemen, folks.

mission-accomplished
