How the fuck has no one tried to assassinate Brandon yet?

Not exactly a trivial endeavor. In the same way there were a handful of dorks and losers who made grasping efforts at attacking Obama, I'm sure a few folks have tried on Donny Donuts and Biden. But certainly nothing worth publishing about.

Nobody is going to manage a John Hinkley Jr in the year of our lord 2023, unless you've got a guy like Bush Sr waiting in the wings to take over. And for all her ambition, Kamala Harris simply isn't that girl. Maybe if Ole' Donny picks a particularly nasty VP, we might see someone pull off another assassination. But I'm not holding my breath. We're more likely to get an old fashioned military coup.

Ah, but its a balmy 72 degrees in late November right now, so actually everything is fine.

How many “Hamas militants” have had children, parents, siblings murdered by Israel? Probably almost all of them.

One of my wife's coworkers had family in Palestine. She lost twenty three members of her extended family in a week, when Israel began bombing. I honestly have no idea how she even shows up to work anymore without going postal.

Do you have another link? That one won't resolve for me.

That's why 25 year olds in software are making 250k in the US

I know a few folks in software in the US, and the lion's share aren't making $250k/year. The ones that are all have Masters/PhDs and are leads/specialists in the Top 20 industry leaders. I don't know who you're working for that pays a quarter million per code-monkey flailing at python, but if there's a job opening that pays this well please let me know. I've got over 15 years experience doing big boy shit for a Fortune 500, and I'd love an extra $100k/year.

Sure they're charming but it's not like any of them have anything like a gripping story.

I'm sorry, what's up? That hasn't been true since at least Ocarina of Time.

Hell, there have been numerous fan shorts

There's more than enough story beats and world elements in Zelda to make a full length feature film. If you can make a movie out of Tomb Raider or Mortal Combat, you can absolutely do a full 90+ minutes telling a compelling story about Zelda/Link.

You're not going to want to do a movie that involves 60-hours of moving puzzle blocks inside themed temples. But the game is a lot more than just high fantasy themed candy crush.

Zero context, but I have to assume this is some kind of performance art intended to symbolize the Israel settlers forced from their homes.

Given the current events in Palestine, it is definitely surreal.

31 NICU babies were forced out of the hospital at gunpoint. 3 have already been confirmed killed in transit.

To be fair, governments do frequently limit civil liberties in times of crisis. Our own Patriot Act probably went too far in that direction. President Abraham Lincoln suspended habeas corpus for Southern sympathizers during the American Civil War, but he never canceled elections. Neither did Winston Churchill, to whom Zelensky is sometimes compared. Churchill actually lost the 1945 British election and had to watch Clement Attlee take the final victory lap for World War II.

soviet-hmm

I do love the "Lincoln suspended habeas corpus" line as a kind-of end run around "violating civil liberties is always bad" arguments. I occasionally see folks go the extra mile and point to the Sand Creek massacre as necessary and good. But the take away from this shit never seems to be "There is something wholly anti-democratic and nefarious about Western politics."

Ukraine is an aberration. Just like Ethiopia and India and Italy and El Salvador and the Philippines and Israel are aberrations. There's nothing wrong with the system, these foreigners (and occasionally those damned MAGA Americans) are just doing democracy wrong. The wittling away of political parties, the canceling of elections, and the reversion to military rule isn't a feature, we assure you. It is always a bug that we just need to work out. Or not, because this is an op-ed in an online tabloid rather than any kind of public policy.

Ghosts of Brazil's election rattling their chains. Wonder how much of Argentina social media is just pictures of Milei with pixelated sunglasses set against a badly photoshopped Massa eating a baby.
