I downvote people who post a million comments or replies instead of just using the edit feature. It makes discussion and following a thread super hard for no reason, especially if one reply gets a long chain of direct replies going, and context in the form of a sibling comment to the highest comment of the chain gets lost.

I'm using Firefox Nightly with zero issues here. Love being able to use any addon I want on my phone.

Currently have a Note 20 Ultra. I like the size and refresh rate of the screen, and its microSD card slot. Not a fan of its processor and battery size.

I'd normally upgrade to the S24 Ultra, its natural successor, but instead I'm waiting for either the:

  • Fold 6 (if it has a decent camera, the Fold 5 leaks are disappointing)
  • Surface Duo 3 (same, decent camera)

I can't get a Pixel Fold as I need Miracast tech inside my phone, and I'm not a fan of the Fold 1-4 aspect ratio of the upcoming OnePlus Fold. If they switch to the Pixel Fold style of opening landscape, I'd take another look at their Fold 2

Obviously, making more than minimum wage is ideal in life. As long as you're doing that, your career choice doesn't have to be something you love more than free Saturdays.

The biggest thing for that to become true is to learn how to save and limit spending. If you make 200k and spend 195k on luxury car leases and other crap, you're doing the same as a person who makes 45k and spends 40k. Yes the person "making more" has those things, but they're just as beholden to their job as the 2nd person, and stuff doesn't make you happy in the end.

On Reddit, I'd normally point ppl to /r/financialindependence but here there is !fire@lemmy.ml which isn't as active.

I just downloaded Firefox Focus to keep open links private, and can share to regular Firefox if I need my sign ins for a specific opened link. Thanks!

The learning curve to joining the fediverse filters out your average facebook/twitter type that Reddit is filled with today.

Let's call a spade a spade lol this is honestly it.

Lurked for a week and left, userbase was way too low. More new topics this past week than an entire month last time I logged on 2 years ago! I love it here now

This is actually the real reason I joined Lemmy. I joined Reddit back in 2012 and as it grew, it slowly became the crapshoot it is today with memes. Shit, remember when comment replies of just "🤣🤣🤣" was literally THE definition of a downvote-able comment? "Adding nothing to the discussion"

I'm SO happy to get away from the shitposts, and hope the lack of ease of joining the fediverse stays as a barrier against users who post that crap, and they remain on Reddit and TikTok.

This is what I'm resorting to. Instead of pirating Lightroom, I'm using RawTherapee for my (non-professional) photo editing of my x100t photos. In the old days, I'd have done it (I still have a very old version of LR exe in one of my hard drives) but today I'd rather not have a ton of keygens and crap on my laptop.

They can be very handy for context, or even fun. For example, I have my "Galaxy Note 20" flair on /r/Android so anyone seeing my comments can know I am speaking from a Samsung phone perspective without me having to state that each time. On /r/nba people have their preferred team set as flair so others can shittalk back to them based on what team they follow, which is a lot of the fun of /r/nba.

There are many more examples in the different subreddits I would frequent, but regardless, I would definitely like community-specific flair options on the Lemmy instances. For example, the option to have your preferred distro as a user flair on !linux@lemmy.ml
