You might be able to set up a user-script to bring it back if you feel strongly enough about it.

100%. This is just eleventh-hour arse-covering.

In short:

Palestinian activist Awdah Hathaleen has allegedly been shot dead by an Israeli settler in the West Bank.

He helped make an award-winning documentary about Israel's occupation of the West Bank.

What's next?

Israeli media reported that a Jewish settler, Yinon Levi, was arrested over the alleged killing.

On Tuesday, Israeli soldiers ejected mourners from a tent set up in Umm al Kheir and fired stun grenades at people who had gathered to pay condolences to Awdah Hathaleen's family.

Israeli members of parliament and the Carmel settlement have expressed support for his alleged killer, Yinon Levi, describing him as a "pioneer".

In 2024 the US State Department sanctioned Mr Levi, saying: "(He) regularly led groups of violent extremists who engaged in actions creating an atmosphere of fear in the West Bank. His groups assaulted Palestinian and Bedouin civilians, threatened them with additional violence if they did not leave their homes, burned their fields, and destroyed their property. Levi and other extremists have repeatedly attacked multiple communities within the West Bank."

In short:

Australians Robert Martin and Tan Safi were part of a group of 21 human rights activists on board the boat Handala, which was intercepted by Israel's navy on Sunday.

On Tuesday, local time, an Israeli court extended their detention until their deportation was finalised.

Lawyers for the group argue their detention is unlawful.

Israel's government has maintained a full naval blockade of Gaza since militant group Hamas took over the strip, preventing any vessels from approaching Gaza or any Gazans from sailing out.

Since Hamas's October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel, the Israeli military has also attacked Gazans fishing in the sea.

This month it also effectively prohibited swimming and bathing by banning Palestinians from entering the water.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese says claims from his Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu and diplomatic officials that there's no starvation in the war-torn territory were "beyond comprehension".

Opposition Leader Sussan Ley said she was "incredibly distressed" by the images she had seen from Gaza.

But she did not directly respond to questions about whether she believed people were starving in the territory or if Israel's policies had contributed to the deteriorating humanitarian situation for the region's 2.2 million residents.

"We all want to see aid flow into Gaza and we all want the war to end and we all want the suffering to cease," Ms Ley said.

"It's very complex on the ground. It's not something that we can make judgments about every move that is made.

"If we want the war to end, and we all do, we know the simplest, quickest way is for Hamas to surrender and release the hostages."

I'm guessing it's phrased as a 'recall' because either
A) It's an 'optional recall' and you could return the phone if you want (in which case they will probably just factory reset and update the firmware and give it back to you)
B) The terminology the ACCC uses (possibly must use due to legislation) is old and just doesn't neatly fit the case of a fault that can be addressed by an over-the-air firmware fix

If we are banning wood heaters, then we should ban fossil fuel cars as well.

The article specifically mentions that fewer deaths are attributable to vehicle emissions than to wood heaters:

The Centre for Safe Air at the University of Tasmania estimates long-term exposure to wood-heater smoke causes 729 premature deaths every year in Australia, which is more than the deaths attributable to emissions from the national fleet of 20 million vehicles, or from energy generation, or even bushfires.

Yeah, looks like a normal weight even for a chihuahua is above 1.5 kg (https://dogslim.com/articles/dog-weight-chart.html), with grey-headed flying foxes (the largest Australian bat) weighing typically less than 1 kg (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grey-headed_flying_fox). It's maybe possible their 'leg-span' - excluding wings - could be similar, though? No idea.

But its findings have been openly mocked by journalists and publications it has found to have breached standards, including News Corp, which has allowed its journalists to call the body “foolish” and “idiots”.

Yet if the government ever tried to regulate, the first thing the Murdoch press would do is talk about the Press Council and how good the self-regulation system is.

Guardian Australia is not a member of the Australian Press Council but it has an independent readers’ editor who investigates complaints and publishes corrections and clarifications.

I wasn't aware of that. I'd be interested to know why. I guess it being a largely Murdoch-funded initiative might factor into it, but I suppose also that a publication doesn't really need a self-regulatory body to deflect from the introduction of government regulation if that publication isn't constantly doing the kind of stuff that warrants regulation (like News Corporation is).

In short:

Two Israeli citizens were detained and questioned after two rights groups reported them to authorities.

They were taken into custody in relation to a war crimes investigation.

One of the groups that reported them, the Hind Rajab Foundation, has been using travelling Israeli soldiers' social media posts to track them and seek their arrests overseas.
