Yes and no. In the mid 2000s bears began to encroach on Grafton residents and attack people. In response, some residents hunted the bears.

I looked it up. It seems to be pretty rare.

Fatalities due to black bear attacks have been almost non-existent for centuries, with the last recorded instance occurring in 1784.

While actual attacks are uncommon, reports of human-bear conflicts are more frequent. These conflicts include sightings, nuisance behaviors like bears accessing trash, or property damage.

“there are no curriculum requirements for home schooling….

All schools including home schools and private schools are required to follow the state curriculum, just like public schools. That comment refers to licensing requirements.

You can send your kid to private or religious schools and the city/state foots the bill.”

Kind of. You can apply for an Education Freedom Account . It is a scholarship to attend home school or the private school of your choice. It is $5,000 a year.

For comparison, some school districts spend $26,000 a year per student on public education. It's pretty awesome to choose where your kids go to school! and in the long run the state will spend a lot less money on education.

I’m more favorable to eliminating car inspections though. They get abused by mechanic shops who have a captive customer.

It's already done! 🙂 https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/mandatory-annual-car-inspections-eliminated-new-hampshire/

If you’re gonna get rid of those things you might as well go all the way and stop requiring a license to drive.

Hopefully we can one day!

There is a saying: How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. You are right. Seat belt laws are a small victory, but you start somewhere and build momentum.
This year we eliminated car inspections, and we are the only state in the US that doesn't require auto insurance. If you cannot pass the small things, you definitely won't win the big things.

Well... that is the point of the seat belt debate. It is not about whether wearing them is safer. They are definitely safer and most people in New Hampshire wear them.

The real question is whether governments should be allowed to force citizens to do something for their own safety, or do we have free will to choose?
