That means the country had high immigration from the host country. Colonies like the original 13 US colonies, Canada, and New Zealand are where settlers would go to try and have a better life. This is unlike other colonies for resource extraction, or unique ones like the prison colony of Australia.

Gaelic is the language family and includes Scottish, Welsh, and another language I believe (Brittain from Brittainy?). Kind of like how Spanish and French are romance languages or English and German are Germanic languages.

I think it would have been interesting, but the showrunners decided to use characters not in the MCU and the movie people probably didn’t want to be locked into a design choice used in the animation.
