No. Acronyms are words, it's in the "nym" part. Initialisms where you pronounce each letter individually are not acronyms, since they ain't words.

ATM ain't an acronym. Neither is SMH.
In my head "solar system" is specifically our star system. "Solar" as in "system of sol". But I guess it's a generic term. I don't like it.
