If, in 5 million years, we are still using dollars, then we deserve to be turned into whatever compound Zeeblorp is interested in schmearing on his bagel.

I have had 3 career changes in my life. Each one has become more rewarding than the last. Getting a new job usually took 6-9 months and some tenacity.

Use this time to beef up your skills, get certification. Also go exploring, go hiking, get a new hobby. As you get older, you start to realize those little non-work moments where you had time are some of the best ones, at least I did.

On the job front, some ideas: use AI to match the job you are applying keywords to the keywords on your resume and cover letter. Or, if you’re anti AI, consult an employment coach to beef up your resume. Get a decent LinkedIn profile and get a little active on it. Reach out to recruiters in the industry and let them know you’re looking.

Times are very chaotic now. With AI coming to the forefront and also the mood swings of a certain government, some businesses are holding off on hiring for the dust to settle, but there are companies still growing who need people.

If you hold ethics in high regard as you say, no amount of money is going to be worth selling your soul to the Devil at the expense of your mental health each day.

At the beginning:

I’m excited to see how they develop Radagast, he’s one of my favorite characters.

In Moria:

Another dwarven mine? Talk about a plot rehash. Is there going to be a big bad in this one too?

Why doesn’t Frodo just use the ring most of the time to hide like Bilbo did?

When they introduce Legolas:

He was in the prequels, I really liked his romantic story arc.

Near the End of the Two Towers:

This one felt long in the tooth. Did they really have to keep all of that character building?

Near the end of ROTK:

How long was this journey? It took Bilbo decades to be seduced by the ring. You’re telling me it overpowered Frodo in just a few weeks? Why didn’t they just give the ring to Sam? He seems better equipped to handle it. I’ll tell you why. Nepotism.

When they encounter the giant spiders - they had these in the prequel too.

You’re telling me all this time it’s a ghost army that wins this war?

Be careful with how you consider this article, it doesn’t have as much confirmation bias as the title would lead you to believe.

There are a few nuggets in this article that I think should be considered:

  • The open source projects that were tested have an average age of 10 years, the article states that AI code assistance is better for new projects and less efficient when used with existing projects.
  • The projects used have strict style guidelines.
  • The developers were very well versed on their projects, meaning they were extremely efficient and code changes.
  • the article itself claims that AI is probably better utilized by newer developers. Of course experienced devs who have years tied into their projects are going to be very well equipped to execute on their projects.

Also a millennial here, on the older side of it. Got employed right after the .com crash.

Save, just save. $50 a month of you can. More if possible. Best time to start was 10 years ago. 2nd best time is now.

Don’t let yourself get stuck in the debt trap. There is no need to keep up with the Jones’s. Family and friends are by far so much better for your mental health than stuff.

There is no reason to get your burrito a chauffeur. Take life by the reigns and walk up and get it yourself. Even better, skip the premium and make one.

If you want to go to college, fantastic, do it. There are still plenty of schools without resort style athletics programs that are very affordable if you look. Community college the first two ear of matriculation is also an option. A lot of community colleges are now free.

If you live in the US, this country has perverted our sense of belonging so that the hustlers can squeeze you for every last almighty dollar. Don't give in. Don’t let them win. Save some money, work on saving yourself.
