This is an critique on the gaming industry, not the players.

I remember moving from the first sims to the second which was a spectacular difference, and then the sims 3 expanding on the tech with an open world. You could smell the future on the book that came in the box with the disc that you read on the way home.

Compare the early and modern versions of wolfenstein. The first game was revolutionary, can you tell apart generic stills from the last 3 games?

The image generation portion of this is not the biggest long term problem because there genuinely very dumb. Good training data can mediate this a lot but more importantly.

Image generation does not reason like llms can.

Once the tech is properly matured where fine tuning of details is possible i expect a true llm reasoning component build in that will always specify to the image generation module exactly how the intended image is supposed to look. Including gender and age if those where not user specified.

This does not solve the problem of bias in llm but i want to highlight that the bias in llm-reasoning module of ai is the single most important part that needs to be bias aware, image generation will smooth itself out.

This is somewhat a reactionary rant on “researchers” and people addressing image gen and text gen under the same rules. And as a worst offender judge gpt models based on the output off dalle outputs. However faulty and hallucinatory they all are they are not the same thing.

Thanks for reading.

Disroot is based in the netherlands i believe.

https://disroot.org/en

From their page:

“Disroot is a platform providing online services based on principles of freedom, privacy, federation and decentralization.

No tracking, no ads, no profiling, no data mining!”

I also used to have a friend that hit me (not hard) when i was a teen.

Took me until well into adulthood to realize that

  1. they actually hit decently hard cause it did hurt but i just internalized “they could hit much harder”

  2. It doesn’t matter how hard they actually did hit because the behavior and intend alone are problematic enough.

  3. I simply called them my friend coming from a lack of positive experiences in friendships.

This is a slightly different case, i dont think there was any hate, just mental disorder. But the real friends i have now (also with mental health struggles) would never do something like this.

People being frustrated with autism is normal, friends getting upset now and then is normal.

Physical violence and expressing direct hate are far from normal.

The register that i bought it from did not provide the right service, i got recommended to use cloudflare to do so.

If you pardon me the pun, online networking isn’t my domain of expertise.

I am happy to use local resource to move away from it, some of my servers don’t work well on cloudflare. If you care to explain how.

Most of these things have a free tier. I would be hardly suprised if roblox doesn’t.

As someone who does know a lot about the industry i simply cannot recommend roblox. However i can recommend the following:

Make an account tougher with your daughter and let her play in the living room, streamed to the tv if you can and let her guide you trough what this game is and what she finds fun about it.

Bonding aside there is a good chance that the free tier is all she needed and the real fun is connecting multiplayer with her real life friends.

Sooner or later you will face some examples of the traps and dangers, but those are generally the same ones that exist everywhere online, at which point you can let your daughter explain the supposed purpose of em while directly complimenting it with your parental insight. This helps you set and explain boundaries in relation to the game and helps build resilience to the inherent risks of the digital age.

Amen on preventing the normalization of fascism and on trying to split the unthinking mass the same as the Nazi intellectual.

But i am a bit confused about the argument here. I believe you are in favor of calling for violence against fascism in a wider sense. And therefor interpret ops message in the same way.

I am in a somewhat mirrored perspective where i feel strong about pacifism and freedom of speech. Words can hurt but to me can be never be labeled as violent, so i read op as valid but colorful expression. They also themselves express that they do not see their own message as a call to violence.

Fascism is naturally abhorrent, but how does threatening fascist expression show that abhorrence to those trapped within? If our threat is general and op meant indeed a call to violence against all including non violent fascist express then we do the opposite of splitting those groups and actually mostly the unthinking will be targeted. Then Violence calls for more violence and only those rich enough to fly away will be unharmed.

Honestly i really wish i could host things without relying on another party but how viable is that really?

I would host a lemmy instance like that if it where possible but one, i would be exposing my public ip if i did, and two, i don't think i can get a certificate for https like that.
