In part because there are people actively and deliberately muddying together the Netanyahu government and Israel (as well as Israel and Jews) so that any criticism of the actions of Israel or Netanyahu can be labeled "antisemitism".

I'm not American, but

I've literally never seen a check in my life, and I've been around since the late 80s.

Japan has various earthquake notification systems. Tweets are just one more way to get the information to the people on a platform they use.

Why are people always disgusted about a disgusting thing which keeps happening?

[–] wandermind@sopuli.xyz -1 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Really? Is that really what it's about? Or is there any chance that it might be about a country invading and trying to conquer its neighbor?

There is no law of the universe which says that a civil war must end in "unification."

It seems to me that the Taiwanese are moving on. Why can't the mainland Chinese move on? Why do they let their former enemy still control themselves like this? Why do they let Taiwan hold this power over themselves? How can such a large, wealthy country of over a billion people be so obsessed with a small country of only twenty million?

How petty the mainland Chinese must be if they cannot move on from a small island after three quarters of a century.

They're not talking about actual measurements in imperial units but about things which have been named after their American labels, which happen to be based on imperial measurements. Like the thread you link says, the actual sizes are defined in millimeters.

Just because we also have Quarter Pounders in McDonalds doesn't mean we use imperial measurements.
