Ironically, I have so much garlic growing in my yard, I can’t give it away. It’s spreading everywhere and taking over everything.
I’m guessing this garlic is different than mine though.

Birds can make two sounds at once! They harmonize with themselves! I think that’s incredible. Sometimes when you hear a some birds calling to each other, it’s actually just one bird.

If the Federal Government doesn’t want to be responsible for anything, why even be a country? Each state be their own I guess /s
Also are they going to reduce taxes for all the cuts? Doubt it, but states would have to make increases to cover all the new work.

Yeah! I wanted to specifically call out the study on UBI with formerly incarcerated people.
I know a lot of pushback on UBI is that it will make people lazy, or emboldened criminals. It has the exact opposite effect.
We can only hope. This morning, I saw multiple news articles with “President Musk” in the title. I suspect it’s intentional for that reason. But at minimum, I hope it’s starting.
I don’t mind. I work on Commercial Real Estate loans.
KC, Dallas, and Miami have a lot of companies in this industry. Over the years, they branch off or get bought out, move two miles down the road and start another company.

Several years ago, I listened to a podcast that interviewed a man in Chicago who was conducting a study. His team found people with a criminal history(I think maybe drug dealers?) and tell them they’ll get $1000 a month. No strings attached.
There were a few who didn’t use the money well, but most quit crime/dealing drugs entirely. They found steady work and some went back to school.
All they needed was an opportunity to feel financially safe, feed their kids, and pay rent.
Edit: I think I found it? Here’s an article on it. Some of my facts were wrong, but the idea was right overall.

I’m not sure which I heard about but I suspect the interview was with Richard Wallace who is mentioned in the article. Some of his talking points sounded familiar.

I’ve been trying to find a new job since April. Getting a job that will pay your mortgage in KC isn’t easy, as it is.
I realized this during the 2016 election. People always say they are voting against their own interests, but their only real interest is to spite someone else. Hurting other people is a win, for them.
