Add also randomization of the instance, in case the main one is down and for privacy. There's already libredirect addon which does that, but still cool.

I'm still using Magisk on LOS 20. Banking app works flawlessly and SafetyNet passes, at least on microg.

You just need to install this module instead of using magiskhide now: https://github.com/kdrag0n/safetynet-fix

Depends on your usage, if you use only flatpak, fedora silverblue would be perfect. If you want to manage multiple computers or you're customizing it, switch to nixos and you won't look back.

But both are different than traditional distros, especially nix. If you already are advanced user of linux, you'd have problems with anything more than installing apps on nix for first time.

From what I understand, yes. It even says it works on Wine, but I can't test on neither right now.

I doubt many people will move. Most people will just start using the official app or move to another website. Lemmy doesn't have much content (yet), and that's yet worse than not having a good app. They will just quick look and go back, if even.

I think they're encrypted by default now. But check whether you have "encryption enabled" in your message log.

And if you want to chat with family or friends, check out Session. It's more user-friendly and more secure.

If you don't add any CA certificates to your system, use HTTPS-only mode and connect from your own client, there's no easy way for them to see what you do on websites. They can only see what websites you're visiting, packets and the timestamp. Using VPS will be the literally the same, except you have only one server and only you are using it, so you're more fingerprintable.

Depends on your use case, for maximum online privacy you should use Tor Browser on Linux or TailsOS. If you want just to pirate, VPN is usually enough.

Theoretically there's "no hate speech" in the rules, but I haven't seen anyone getting banned for that. You'd need to find out yourself what's their definition of this word.

How well were your grades? You didn't go to doctor on weekdays even once?
