I've only used it in Europe, and mostly for countryside tours, but yeah I can see how giant urban centers such as NYC might overwhelm the app.
Yep it's based on openstreetmaps, which btw you can also edit yourself - I've added some backroads/dirt roads that are not accessible by car but work nicely by bike just so that the app would recognize them and route me through.

I'm using https://www.bikecitizens.net/, Switzerland based so with decent privacy laws, really good maps and a great UI.
Using it on Android myself, but I guess the iOS version will be more or less equal.

In that case this shouldn't have been an issue, I tried from my home wifi and mobile without VPN, and nobody else in my household is using PieFed or Lemmy.
Are those login attempts per user, or overall API logins?

Hope I'm not spamming - in 703 (just updated) I now get to the login mask on piefed.ca, but then get a connection error when trying to actually log in. But hey, progress!
