Same! I liked that we got to see their backstory fleshed out some more. Regarding the hobbits:

Tap for spoilerOne sort of tease we got in the end for the hobbits I thought was interesting is establishing the origins of the Shire.

I haven’t read the books, so I don’t know just how much is left on the table, but season 3 feels like it may be a good place for the series to end given what’s been covered already.

Per their project page in 2024 they were taking orders to create the shells. Maybe there’s a loophole that exists where the housing is exempt because the internals are DIY.

In any case, money was involved.

I just can’t believe that the retro community has not latched onto some trademark moniker at this point to avoid any kind of legal trouble. Tendo? NTDO? I dunno, anything! lol

Printing “Nintendo” on the device has got to be a bad idea, right?

The Rings of Power, Season 2.

I’m all caught up, and honestly I liked it. There was a hell of a lot to cram into 8 episodes, but I thought it was still fun. At the very least it’s a very beautiful show.

Taurozzi had pet insurance, but it didn't cover Coal's full medical bills. He said Coal's medical care cost more than $30,000.

He raised more than $15,000 through a Go Fund Me campaign, which helped extend Coal's life and gave him the best medical care available.

I was devastated when I decided I couldn’t afford $900 in vet bills for my cats, but this is insane.

I love it. It’s very dynamic!

At the very least it’ll help with your spelling and grammar.

I’m kind of all socialed out at this point—even being on Lemmy is a bit much some days, but if Gander can get its own version of Facebook’s Marketplace I’d be willing to have a gander myself.

EDIT: Hol up, it’s built on AT Protocol. I’m not sure if a marketplace would be possible the way it works now. *sad goose noise*

That’s unreal. The timelapse of the move is worth the click.

ETA: the Samsung car moving robots are kind of amazing. Goodbye valet jobs!

Hmmm now my animation studio guess for that new office doesn’t seem that far off!

From Discord:

Hello @everyone,

Unfortunately today is the day I have to announce that LunaSea is no longer being published and all related cloud services (including notifications) will be shut down in the near future.

For more information on when things will be shut down, please read the details here: https://www.lunasea.app/

I understand that this comes as a surprise and originally was not the intention for the project. However, with recently enforced changes by the Play Store (and possible other storefronts in the future) to require showcasing your legal personal residential address, I am no longer comfortable publishing mobile applications for privacy reasons.

Luckily for some time I have been able to get around this by utilizing an older ID to showcase an address I no longer reside at. Unfortunately, this no longer works and I am required to re-verify which I am not willing to do.

With this shut down also marks the closure of the Discord and Subreddit. For the time being this Subreddit and Discord will remain open, however all channels have been removed and no new posts allowed in the subreddit.

Once again, thank you to everyone for everything over the years, I couldn't have asked for a better community. ❤️

British animation company Jellyfish Pictures Ltd., which earlier this month paused all operations while “exploring all options for sale and investment,” is shutting down, part of the ongoing turmoil in the global animation and vfx industries.

In a statement earlier this month, the company blamed the “long-tail impact of Covid, coupled with rising costs and the fall-out from the writer and actor strikes” as the reason for its struggles.

The company’s remaining 69 workers are being laid off, with a handful remaining onboard temporarily to help wind down operations.

Upcoming Plex Pass Price Increase

The price increase applies to new and existing subscriptions, with the exception of existing Lifetime Plex Pass holders.

New USD prices as of April 29, 2025 will be:
Monthly: $6.99
Yearly: $69.99
Lifetime: $249.99

If you’d like to lock in a Lifetime Plex Pass subscription at the current rate of $119.99 USD, you have until April 29, 2025 to do so.

Upcoming Change to Remote Playback for Personal Media

We are also changing how remote playback works for streaming personal media (that is, playback when not on the same local network as the server). The reality is that we need more resources to continue putting forth the best personal media experience, and as a result, we will no longer offer remote playback as a free feature.

So Long, Mobile Unlock Fee

Our Android and iOS mobile apps previously required a one-time activation fee or Plex Pass to remove the one-minute playback limitation when streaming content from a Plex Media Server. As part of these changes, there will no longer be any such one-minute playback limitation.

EDIT:

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR CURRENT PLEX PASS HOLDERS: For users who have an active Plex Pass subscription, remote playback will continue to be available to you without interruption from any Plex Media Server, after these changes go into effect. When running your own Plex Media Server as a subscriber, other users to whom you have granted access can also stream from the server (whether local or remote), without ANY additional charge—not even a mobile activation fee.

Interesting bit of information at 0:12 there is a transition that shows an alternate 6-button configuration from the default ABXY layout.

[…] the Retroid Pocket Classic has been introduced. This will mark the first vertical handheld that Retroid has released since the original Pocket back in 2020.

Coming as little surprise, Retroid didn’t share anything regarding specs, but it did share all seven colors that the Classic will come in. Front and center is yellow, featuring a deep purple D-pad, and while the X+Y buttons match the rest of the shell, the A+B buttons are green and red, respectively.

As for the rest of the colors, we’ll have a DMG colorway, transparent purple, pink, teal, lime green, and what appears to be a lighter version of what the DMG has. From there, the Pocket Classic sports a front-firing speaker, to go along with the Start, Select, and Menu buttons. Curiously enough, none of those three buttons are actually centered, and we don’t have any idea why this would be the case.
