Similar to cooking. This week we made a big pot of spaget and was so relieved each day after work coming home to just microwaving dinner and washing a few dishes instead of cooking hungry and washing dishes all sleepy

But then people would be able to vote and not be homeless which goes against their goals

To mexico to be with other donkeys 😭

The owners here I guess we're too elderly to be taking care of them

I've been to a mall similar like this with a old lowly worm coin op ride. They feel so surreal and sad

Haha alright my water block is finally out for delivery so I'm hopeful I can get it all installed by the weekend

Was it working fine before? I've been using Bluetooth headphones and wireless mouse on popos for a few months now and only had an issue on a machine yesterday. I think it was because I was swapping the drive with the os on the several different motherboards to test different cpus

For email and calendar I'D probably look into proton. For other software tools i would start with services people like that you don't have to manage other than be like the admin and as you go try and find alternatives and self host your own and teat it out. Maybe even something like digital ocean where you can just spin up a droplet that's presetup for you and learn more and more until you're comfortable to transition other people to it

Haha this is pretty much the response I expected but I'm still waiting for my gpu block to show up so I've had a lot of time to over think the whole thing, plus it's been pretty fun learning more about fluid and stuff.

At this point I just want to try it and record it and hopefully do it better than the only two people I have found that tried doing it the way car people seem to do it all the time

I was just thinking about my free oracle server if it would be good for my own lemmy instance?

I got sick of having a way too big server chassis in my short depth rack so decided to split my server into two short depth chassis. I put the motherboard in a sliger 17" 3U case, then built up this 2U 17" case I got off of amazon.

jbod chassis
here is the case with some noctua fans, power supply, a cable adapter card and some led strips I had from a different build that I thought might be cool to include

8x 6TB drives
these are my 8 drives that are in my array, the two parity drives stayed in the motherboard chassis

front of rack
here is how my rack looks now with the JBOD sitting above the sliger motherboard case so that the top has some space for the psu to get some are since there is a patch panel above it

top shelf
top shelf of the rack with three fans I added on the rear to help keep everything cool and all the air moving from front to back. I had to remove the back plate of the rack because the large chassis I was using before was sticking out and now with the ups, jbod and server they are too close to the back so I just kept it off

3U case before being built up
forgot to take more photos of the main server build

Hello I've been using a chromecast with Google tv on a portable monitor to have my cameras displayed, but it seems the chromecast is pretty under powered. I am wondering if anyone has had any luck with the 4k version of the chromecast or another cheap streaming device like the Walmart onn that loads the protect app better.

Currently one camera view works fine but using a four camera view is tough because you have to open and close the app over and over until every thing loads up, then if someone rings the doorbell and it goes to the doorbell view you start all over to get it back

Too bad the fire trucks were gone, but you can see them on google maps if you set the date to 2008
