I did read it. The Tumblr blog is what was reported to police, leading to his arrest in 2018, roughly a year after the offending began. The original commenter was under the mistaken impression that his offenses went undetected until 2025, or roughly eight years. I corrected a misunderstanding about years.
vaguerant
Walmart frantically distancing themselves from her is another decent indicator that the company at least doesn't think this is good for their bottom line, especially when a large segment of customers are already boycotting them for caving to the current administration. If the other side starts boycotting them for not caving to the current administration, that's a) bad for business and b) very funny.
Actually reading the link, he was arrested in 2018. It's not very exculpatory to say "His CSAM collection wasn't eight years old, it was only one year old," but it's true I guess.
Not trying to discourage anybody from switching to Linux, but Nook is also available for Windows and Mac if that's not an option for you.
@jwr1@kbin.earth Do correct me if I'm wrong, but what you're suggesting here is running separate Mbin and PieFed instances in parallel, right? This isn't strictly about moving, moreso expanding?
I had forgotten that the show was produced in standard definition this far back. I spent the first ten minutes trying to figure out why it looked weird. From a quick Google, the entire RTD era was SD.
This wasn't technically my introduction to Who; I'm pretty sure I had seen some Tom Baker/Fourth Doctor repeats as a small child and I had a figurine of that version. But this was my first time new series were in production during my lifetime and my first time watching at an age where I could form memories. I've never gone back, so I basically only know New Who stuff.
While I wasn't a true novice--I knew the Doctor regenerated and that Daleks existed--I agree with ValueSubtracted that this was a great introduction. Especially the TARDIS reveal is very nicely done. Eccleston's Doctor is fascinatingly rude in a way they haven't really been since, but still the same protector, if a patronizing one. ~~Not sure how he resisted Jackie, though.~~
no Time Lords or Gallifrey to be mentioned just yet
Technically, when the Nestene are wrestling with the Doctor at about 37:30, the consciousness does growl out "Time Lord!" But if you'e completely new to the show, that's probably not going to bother you.
This is a person with the joke user name quentin.quarantino, as a pun on quarantine and Tarantino. I don't believe they are claiming to be the director.
Yeah, exactly. The goal is to preserve the reveal of Darth Vader's real identity. If you just watch them in number order, the prequels spoiler the original trilogy. With the Machete order, you get the Vader reveal in Empire, then a "flashback" that explains how it happened.
Skipping Phantom Menace is just because the guy who came up with the Machete order didn't like it and felt you got enough context from 2-3. But you can do roughly the same thing without skipping it by just going 4-5-1-2-3-6.
It's true.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. I'm not a big Terminator-head, only seen half of the movies, but that was the version of Terminator I really got into.
TSCC ENDING SPOILERS, STAY OUT
The decision to end the show by having John jump into the post-apocalyptic future was wild, from a production standpoint. You have this show that's in permanent danger of being cancelled and you go "What if we set up our ending so the next season is guaranteed to blow the budget because we can't just film in present-day California any more?" It was a great hook, but I wonder whether they could have gotten a third season if they'd presented a smaller target.
