I can't see a way for this to be anything but a Producers situation. Calling it literally anything but Fyre Festival 2 would increase the odds of success, if the event succeeding was ever the plan.
vaguerant
Not a criticism, but that way of phrasing it is funny to me. Makes me imagine it was like a Doctor Who episode.
SCENE: INT. OFFICE BUILDING
Camera pans over standard office equipment, characters
making copies, having lunch in the break room. We hold
on a phone operator, female, Mediterranean appearance,
mid-30s. Her name is GIANCARLA. She is engaged in a
pleasant phone conversation in Italian. The other side
says something which makes GIANCARLA look confused.
GIANCARLA:
(Italian, English subtitles)
Huh? I think something's wrong with the line, I
can't understand you. Is that even Italian?
Wobbly blue energy wave (SFX) passes over GIANCARLA. She
is now female, Asian appearance, mid-30s. Other end of
phone continues speaking.
GIANCARLA:
(Chinese, English subtitles)
That's better! Everything's back to normal, now.
For a moment, it didn't even sound like you were
speaking Chinese!
CUE OPENING CREDITS
This is something I feel like Mbin does well. It shows separate up and downvote counts, so instead of a post like this just having a single score where 51 could either mean 51 upvotes and 0 downvotes or 101 upvotes and 50 downvotes, you can immediately see "Oh, a third of the people who voted on this thought it was bad, something must be up."
You can see this info in the Lemmy/PieFed interfaces (on desktop at least) by hovering the mouse over the point score, but the Mbin approach gives a lot more information to people who are just skimming.
If it helps, the description of the photo is explicitly misinformation. The photo is from a 2020 (businessinsider.com) lockdown (reuters.com) in the Izalco maximum security prison, halfway across the country from CECOT. The images depict Izalco inmates being stripped and searched for contraband in the yard, it is not a group cell. I do not know the toilet/shower/etc. situation of these men.
I'm not OK with the events the photo depicts either, but regardless it's not what is described in the ... meme, are we calling this a meme?
the old URLs (with the subdomain blog) will no longer work...
if you're trying to open an old URL, just swap "blog" with "news" in the subdomain.
This seems pretty fixable, doesn't it? Once the old blog shuts down, can't you just redirect the subdomain so that the old links redirect to your current blog and everything is fine?
Mostly every Rare game.
- Diddy Kong Pilot (the voxel version)
- Dinosaur Planet
- Donkey Kong Racing
- Twelve Tales: Conker 64
I know 3/4 of these sort of got released, but the mode-7 style Banjo-Pilot is fundamentally not interesting to me, Star Fox Adventures is fine but was a lot more ambitious when it was on weaker hardware, and while Twelve Tales looked generic, Conker's Bad Fur Day is the least funny thing to ever attempt humor.
I didn't forget Donkey Kong: Coconut Crackers, I just don't mind missing out on that.
The problem I have with that is that it probably means I'll end up unknowingly rewarding the clickbaiters/blanking the more thoughtful creators who deserved the view. Somewhere, somebody in the world will think I deliberately clicked on a dumb thumbnail and that's too great a burden to bear.
The worst is when the painting actually has interesting composition but I have to waste my time looking for a similar work where nobody is making a stupid face, to avoid rewarding artists who paint overly dramatic self-portraits.
Surely this means Lemmy has finally reached critical mass and we're slashdotting other sites now. /s
Full disclosure, I upvoted and agree with you.
Still, this leaves open the question of how you reached your idea of sensible defaults. Are these just the most popular in each category (e.g. most successful search engine, highest user-count Lemmy instance, etc.)?
Limited Run Games does some really cool stuff if you don't have your own CD burner.
Is it not obvious that this is the first half of a sentence and has been selectively edited to mislead?
I don't have video of the Montana rally, but Sanders has talked about this issue repeatedly at the Fight Oligarchy rallies, and here is what he said in LA:
Certainly, there are many who disagree with this half of the sentence, and that's fine, but it should at least be presented with context.
