What a towering example of a human being, goddamn. I'm a communist theatre director, so if I could hang out with a historical figure, it would absolutely be Paul Robeson. I like to share this video from 1958 of him talking about playing Othello. This is an actor at the absolute top of his game in complete control of his craft, and fully grasping the political dimensions of the role. You basically don't see that anywhere else

edit: I just watched this again and I always forget how out of his league the mousy English interviewer is

They weren't aware, that's correct. I cannot fucking stand the online reactionary stance on modern art I see from leftists; abstract expressionism was promoted by the west strictly because it was the opposite of the official Soviet line on art, which was socialist realism, not because of the ideological content of the art itself. It's beyond intellectually lazy to be opposed to abstract art because of that.

Standing in front of a Mark Rothko painting was almost a fucking spiritual experience for me, not because of the capitalist messages hidden inside but because of the depth of color and texture that fills the perception

My favorite is Colorado's cryptid, the Slide-Rock Bolter, which is basically a big whale-like thing with claws on its tail that it uses to hold onto the top of a mountain. Then whenever a miner or lumberjack is walking down below in a valley, it will let go and start sliding down the mountain, building up speed until it catches the person in its mouth and uses the momentum of its slide to bring it up the mountain on the other side of the valley. Then it will grab onto that mountain and wait for its next victim to appear down below.

Here's a sketch I found online

The security line at DIA is always fucking unreal. It's the only airport I've been at that's ever consistently that bad and I can't figure out why

Yeah, when he's still capitalizing white I'm like disgost

The secret to making things better in the world is that you can't rely on people making good choices, you have to remove the bad choices.

I also would love to know about this. Sometimes I'll get lucky with scripts being on libgen or annas-archive but usually anything newer than like 2000 is a challenge to find

I had a good time with it. I don't know if it's good, but I had fun, so add that to your mixed things

They do look goofy but starting to use one was literally life-changing; my sleep beforehand was so bad that my spouse, coworkers, and friends were all like "Damn, you okay?" all the time
