Instances hold copies of other instances' communities? I thought it was simply an API call to the other server. Not an expert, tho.
Don't mean to disrespect, but what is your reasoning on building another community for technology when there are a couple already pretty big?
Federation is great, but fragmenting communities seems counterproductive.
It's good and I use it but at the same time I have also noticed that specially Google results are sometimes absolutely bad compared to directly searching on Google, and I am talking so bad that it probably is on purpose.
But it's fine because bangs will give you all the power
Don't worry. You did nothing wrong.
It's just that I'd be better if we spreaded communities around between different servers, and that instance, lemmy.studio, was kinda created by a music fan for mostly music-related communities.
You can create an account there and then create communities there, or don't, it doesn't really matter, but it'd be cool to see different instances flourish.
Please next time go to lemmy.studio for music related communities (and off-load lemmy.world, helping federation).
Is anyone else having trouble clicking links in Jerboa? Cannot access the community.
Short answer: yes, you got it.
Long answer: yes, but you'll see it's not like magic. Some instances will federate with others, some will straightup block others, some will simply not federate, etc... but those are very extreme cases with very particular reasons.
This reads like an AI generated conversation trying to sell PeerTube.
How couldn't you guys know about PeerTube?? 😅
Is there a reason for working like this and not simply be a portal to the other instance's community?
