This should be top comment if true.

I mean it also does mean the first thing tho no?

They already did much more than that tho. The percentage of palestinians in gaza that have been killed is so much higher than that of germans or japanese during ww2.

That is what it feels like sometimes. Pretty well made.

Wasnt really a Luigi style shooting from what little Wikipedia has to offer so far. Dude just killed a bunch of random people and then offed himself. Literally just a mass shooting.

He killed:

  • Didarul Islam, a 36-year-old off-duty police officer (ACAB)
  • Blackstone executive Wesley LePatner (...)
  • Julia Hyman, a recent college graduate working for Rudin (questionable)
  • Aland Etienne, a 46-year-old security guard (probably not a cop considering it wasnt specified like with the other one)

Definitely not a targeted assassination. Still better than doing it in a school or club tho.

Critics argue that the operation was disproportionate and showed a lack of sensitivity to the symbolic significance of the location.

More like clear intimidation tactic and abuse of the violence monopoly, but okay lets call it "insensitive" i guess.

Or that :) Doesnt really make sense tho. Any XMPP server could implement something like this if they wanted. Would that then make you dump XMPP because one server did it?

The general idea was announced a while back but the details are even more strict than i expected.
Dont get me wrong i think this is an absolutely great move. The matrix.org homeserver has waaaay to many users and its not healthy for the matrix ecosystem. This will cause people to move to other servers, because 1MB is almost unusable and that is probably the intention behind this move too.

Damn those doodes got an attitude

I never worked with these before, but these coils are apparently called "Voice Coil Motors" (VCM). The one from this post is big but its the same tech that is used on a smaller scale in phones.

I went and found a "driver" for these things and took a look at the datasheet to understand how a VCM is typically controlled. This thing is 1.5mm x 0.8mm small so something you might actually find in a phone.

The driver chip has built in current sensing and the current going through the coil directly corresponds to lens position so just from that, the driver knows where the lens is positioned.

https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/drv201.pdf#page=8

The device is used to control the current in the voice coil motor (VCM). The current in the VCM generates a magnetic field which forces the lens stack connected to a spring to move. The VCM current and thus the lens position can be controlled via the I2C interface and an auto focus function can be implemented

Because the lens stack is spring mounted it can lead to "ringing" which basically means bouncing that continues after the desired position was set. So the chip apparently has built in logic for compensating for that so it more smoothly reaches the desired position without overshooting.

Depending on how its built you might be able to do adjustment and sensing with a single coil. Similar to how you can do current sensing in motors or how you can send and receive with the same coil in a metal detector.

Yeah, people need to stop pushing proton. Its not a good recommendation and honestly never was. Putting all your eggs in one basket is always a shit idea.
