"US-based columnist for the Globe & Mail"

So, definitely showing up to those local Canadian offices daily.

Eat shit and die, Gus, ya corporate toad. As if the PostMedia Group wasn't capable of being a big enough shill for billionaire interests on its own.

Pundits love these charts, and we do have a huge housing affordability crisis up here.

Problem compared to America is that we have about 1/10th of the total population, and our two largest "international" cities, Toronto and Vancouver, have been overrun by global elite buyers and rental corporations that have massively driven up the average prices.

Drop those two cities out of the calculations, and the chart still looks bad, but less insane.

Not saying this analysis isn't correct, just providing some context that always seems to be left out of these conversations.

This is the only answer. The H10 is the only HRM that is worth a damn for accuracy during workouts, especially something intense like HIIT.

FWIW the Polar app is great too, and very privacy-friendly. It does sync automatically with Google/Fitbit services.

Why the fuck are we giving this jagoff any additional views or attention at all. Fuck Tucker Carlson; I hope he gets hit by a high speed train.

Timber?! That's a fucking terrible idea. It's inexcusable that modern homes aren't build out of mud and wattle. Lower carbon, more sustainable, and you don't have to do anything and end of life because it's a stupid fucking idea that no one thinks is good.

"Texas Republican officials have long argued about the need to strengthen the integrity of elections, but many have grown skeptical about ERIC’s ability to do this. They argue that ERIC’s requirement that members identify eligible but unregistered voters and encourage them to register is an improper use of tax dollars."

LMFAO, what the hell is wrong with these people. How can you just wake up every day and hate your neighbours that much by default

Amazing! Sanderson writes an incredibly inter-woven series of stories that are largely independent of one another, but do intersect in different ways, and the deeper we get into his worlds, the more the overlapping elements of his universe start to come into the narrative.

The Cosmere is big and complex, and I just finished re-reading the whole thing in a suggested order that helps build up the Cosmere in a way that's a bit friendlier to a new reader. Each series takes place on different planets in their universe, and in the case of the Mistborn series, in two different eras separated by a few hundred years.

Here's how I read it:

PHASE ONE (largely independent)

Scadrial

  • Mistborn (The Final Empire): Mistborn Era 1-1
  • The Well Of Ascension: Mistborn Era 1-2
  • The Hero Of Ages: Mistborn Era 1-3
  • The Eleventh Metal (Novella in Arcanum Unbounded)

Sel

  • Elantris
  • The Hope of Elantris (Novella in Arcanum Unbounded)
  • The Emperor's Soul (Novella in Arcanum Unbounded)

Nalthis

  • Warbreaker

Taldain

  • White Sand (either the original 3-part graphic novel or the new prose version)

Threnody

  • Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell (Novella in Arcanum Unbounded)

First of the Sun

  • Sixth of the Dust (Novella in Arcanum Unbounded)

PHASE TWO (starting to weave in Cosmere references more heavily)

Scadrial

  • The Alloy Of Law: Mistborn Era 2-1
  • Allomancer Jak (Novella in Arcanum Unbounded)
  • Shadows Of Self: Mistborn Era 2-2
  • The Bands Of Mourning: Mistborn Era 2-3
  • Mistborn: Secret History (Novella in Arcanum Unbounded)

Roshar

  • The Way Of Kings: Stormlight Archive 1
  • Words Of Radiance: Stormlight Archive 2
  • Edgedancer (Novella in Arcanum Unbounded)
  • Oathbringer: Stormlight Archive 3
  • Dawnshard (Novella)
  • Rhythm Of War: Stormlight Archive 4

Scadrial (again!)

  • The Lost Metal (this one makes much more sense after Roshar)

There's also a few shorts Brandon wrote as a secret project during the pandemic that are starting to be released now:

Lumar

  • Tress Of The Emerald Sea

Komashi

  • Yuri and the Nightmare Painter

???

  • Kickstarter Secret Project #3 in October 2023

Gee, the Premier is upset about a company (not a constituent) is being badmouthed for factually being a giant global emitter of carbon, in the face of her own utter contempt for literally everyone who isn't actively lining her or her cronies pockets.

Get fucked, Danielle. And fuck everyone who voted for your dumb fucking AM radio host ass. Goddamned shitstain of a human being.

Oh man, what a ride indeed. That series really is epic! And just in time for Season 2 of WoT to drop on Amazon!

If you liked that series, and in particular the last 2-3 books, then I'd recommend working your way through Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere, and the Stormlight Archive series in particular. Not classic sci-fi (although I'd argue it still fits on some levels), but an excellent fit after reading Robert Jordan.
