Me neither. I don’t expect texting to be instant either and basically have the same attitude you do.
I remember for the longest time family would be angry that I texted them at night, and I’d always think to myself “then just respond later?”
I’ve called the police on a handful of unsafe drivers: drunk driver on wrong side of road, drunk driver meandering over the line, boyfriend/girlfriend stopped at a traffic light in separate vehicles getting into a domestic assault territory (and backing up rush hour traffic), etc.
Why? The quality was always shit. I’d rather keep the data port (Lightning/USB-C) and use an external DAC. For calls and meetings where audio quality is trash anyway, Bluetooth doesn’t necessarily degrade it enough to care.

I see this from time to time, and really all I can think is “do people really think like this?”
I work from home and a lot of times while waiting for CI I take a look at my phone and oftentimes I get texts and respond immediately.
Who is it exactly that would perceive this as desperate? I’m not going to hide the fact I was at my phone when I was just to make people think higher of me, and I really don’t understand this thinking at all.
Just block all ad/tracking domains and hopefully your ads will go away. I haven’t seen an ad in ages, but when I did (due to temporarily disabling) they were clearly not targeted.
Why deal with targeting at all when you can completely block them?
Say I find out my 401k is investing in this. What do I do to get out of the situation? Would I have to completely stop contributing to it (and lose employer matching) or something else?
I do have a 401k but before that I really loved investing on my own and avoiding this stuff. I wish I could have them dump the funds into my own account but obviously that’s not possible.
My neighbor does this for a living, but she does it for wealthy clients in the Hollywood area.
