I have a Zyxel NAS server that just offers a SMB share. I'm just dumping my photos there under YYYY/MM/DD scheme, and converting all of my Nikon NEF files to DNG. (For importing photos to the NAS and generating backups, I have a PowerShell script and a PowerAutomate action. Also mild usage of Dropbox to transfer files from my cellphone.)

For actual management of photos, I use ACDSee Photo Studio Professional, and it just writes all tag information to the files themselves, so I can basically use any other software for photo management. For actual photo editing, I use DXO PhotoLab and Affinity Photo most of the time.

Enklanti on iisiä.

Edit: Ainiijoo! Tunnistan nykypäivänä ehkä jotain venäjän kielen sanoja! Tai jotain! Saa viestittää, mutta paremman ja nopeamman vastauksen saa ehkä nopeammin jos katsot Wiktionarya. Tai jotain. Ruosteessa on sekin kielitaito.

Funny thing is that I'm not sure if governments should run official Mastodon servers where all political parties blend into one. I'm from Finland, and we currently have a mild problem called "dipshit party having actual political reach". Including several members of parliament who have tweeted Not So Savoury Things which would be a banworthy offence in pre-Musk Twitter (if anyone at the staff comprehended Finnish language, that is). So maybe the task of running Mastodon servers for candidates and actual serving members of political machinery should fall to the political parties. If an entite dipshit party gets defederated, maybe that's a signal they should consider.

This is actually a good question if I'm answering it entirely based on feels, not actual data.

Biggest game overall, single player plus multiplayer? Halo series. Maybe Destiny 1&2 too.
Biggest PC game? Probably Neverwinter Nights (2002). (This predated Steam, so fuck the statistics anyway.)
Biggest game I'm spending shitloads of time right now? TRAIN SIM WORLD 3.

Hey, this may be a real long shot, but does anyone have a video link for a first person shooter mod that was based on this meme?

The video basically had this:

[Random ass title screen with techno remix of the song]
[The Leekspin Girl in first person, fighting an engine asset lady in first person, throwing leeks around]
[Badass narrator] "HEAD SHOT!"
[Badass narrator] "YOU WIN THE MATCH!!!"

I don't think I have it in my YouTube favourites because this probably happened before I even had the presence of mind to register an YouTube account and favourite videos! Very early days, is all I'm saying!

EEE worked for Microsoft in short term, but that kind of strategy never really works in long term and the open alternatives end up better than ever.

Windows was able to secure some of the server market for a time, but despite that they never managed to eat into Linux's inevitable growth in the server market, and these days, Linux and BSD cheerfully exist in the Azure platform with full support from Microsoft.

Two other prominent examples of this are document formats and Java. Microsoft tried to introduce Office Open XML (.docx) as a competiting standard for OpenDocument (.odt), but they failed to even properly support the standard themselves, so now we have MSOffice-specific document format variants existing alongside OpenDocument.

Microsoft was pretty much forced to stay off of Java game for legal reasons, invented their own similar language (C#), then realised that keeping it closed was unsustainable and the open source implementation their research department was cooking up was the way forward. So nowadays C# is actually even more open platform than Java, and it's Java that is playing the catch-up game.

My first Reddit client was Baconreader. I can't remember why I stopped using it, probably because it had some limitations or other. I used RIF for a while, because they were going ad-free for Reddit Gold users. Didn't renew my Reddit Gold one day. Luckily there was a lot of hype going on around this newcomer called Sync, so I got it Sync Pro and was happy ever since. ...Until this day I guess, but that's not Sync's fault.

SubredditSimulator was based on older generative algorithms, so everyone could fairly easily tell that it was rubbish. When SubredditSimulator got shut down, someone made a new one based on GPT-2 (I think) and everyone was like "OK, this is getting harder to distinguish from real people".

I'm betting someone has made even more advanced bots by now. I'm betting someone's also not concerned about telling other users upfront that they're bots, and they're not confining them into specific subs. Now, the only reason I'm not accusing Reddit Inc themselves of building these bots is that they aren't exactly a bastion of software engineering excellence; the site barely works as is.

@z3n0x Very true! But at least it's always been a place to dump random images and never really pretended to be a "community" beyond that.

Why would anyone remove the French language pack? I mean, I'd just randomly squint at stuff! And try to figure shit out! It just adds challenge. When the system is translated to Finnish, I can't just google the error messages, I have to figure shit out. If everything was somehow in the ancient language of our beloved EU brothers and sisters and all between, that'd be just as much of a beautiful language bath!
