Depends how much you use it. I work in IT and plug my thumb drive in multiple times per day. In the past, most of my failures have been physical failures where the drive and the USB connection physically separate, or the USB connector just breaks. I have rarely encountered flash storage failures but I don't just put them in drawers for years, they get used a lot.
Buy one with square USB on one end, USB-C on the other, then if one fails you still have the other interface. The more reputable companies are better in this market. $17 should get you 128gb here

The internet was a mistake. We know that now. People have never been more connected yet never been more lonely. It's a trap, a false oasis. AI could kill it and I'd sleep happy. There has to be a way to make the tech work FOR us instead of AGAINST us.
I went on a river float (tubing) with some friends last weekend, and a guy who I respect very much produced a BT speaker and let it play much of the time. Thankfully it was too underpowered to hear unless you were right by it, but yeah people really think a tinny ass speaker is going to be pleasant for others to listen to.
The client knew of me, that I have been stalked and gay bashed, and asked my husband to get my take. Therapists are allowed to share relevant details about their own lives if it's helpful, it's unusual for clients to follow up on them tho. I don't have their name, just their situation, which is vague enough to share here.
My SO is a therapist with a client who's being stalked by a severely mentally ill man. Her children are being stalked. I'm like - yes, police reports and whatnot, but they all need to have guns at this point, because the police aren't going to stop it, and this guy is determined.
They are going to arm themselves.
Or maybe the rampant drug use and sales?
