I ordered a laptop from BB for an executive at work, they tried delivering it on a Saturday and texted me about it, offered to deliver elsewhere instead, so I'm like, sure bring it to my house. Then when they get there, it's a third party delivery service (not Doordash but like it) - woman and her boyfriend - hat out looking for a tip. Umm I didn't ASK for some weird tip-based delivery service, I thought they were UPSing that shit. I can't put tips on my corporate card, for laptop delivery fees?! So I looked like the asshole after they booked it across town. Haven't ordered from Best Buy again, what a terrible customer experience.

And yet it would still leave the edges of bird shit on my car
The casino makes more money when everyone is forced to use it as a bank!
It took decades for the computer revolution to become the personal computer revolution and businesses could adapt workflows and build out new ways to spend their R&D money (remember this was all back when stock buybacks were illegal, so companies were still investing in themselves) to fill the headcounts. It's taken mere months for generative AI to upend businesses and schools, destroying entire professions. I do not see the two as being highly comparable.
Remember when Twitter - even before leon bought it - decided Trump was too important to ban, even tho he was violating the shit out of their TOS...
Does the PBC that owns BlueSky have an official stance on whether political officials can be "too big to ban?"
Look at what’s going on with the Trump phone. Obvious lie, media doesn’t even dig into it. Trump gets the headline and the win. As seems to happen every time, the media is back to loving him again. I have a feeling things to this new wall-to-wall flattering coverage, his approval rating is actually gonna start inching up again. And this is made my faith in America completely evaporate.
I have a friend who's in her 70s, transitioned after retiring. Her wife left her after she came out. Her friends and family, well. Not anymore. Her wife even took her dogs, who died without seeing her again. Like just absolute 'fuck you' kind of treatment. And yes in the past year or two, she's had some really unpleasant times where she expressed interest in detransitioning, or living as genderfucked or something.
When you ask her tho, is that what she wants? She says no, she wants to be able to go out in public and not feel like a monster who everyone hates.
Protip do not retire in a red state if you're vulnerable in any way.
Considering who has the fertility advantage here, I am not sure this trend will even continue indefinitely. I've seen it in my own distant family, the only ones to have a BUNCH were the weird-ass Christian extremists whose kids are all named Isaac and shit.
The rest of us mostly had no kids, with a few having 1 or 2.
And obviously, the intro to Idiocracy, but it's true.
I loved working most days until 12 or 1 in the office, coming home and refocusing on "my" part of my workday. Just enough office, not too much. Sadly now I am glued into a windowless room with a camera on me. Major dissatisfaction, huh.
We did two group shroom trips with my friend who died of cancer earlier this month. They did help with the weight and anxiety of it, I think for all of us. But it only softened the blow a bit, took some of the edge off and allowed us to focus more in the remaining months on new experiences and thoughts rather than ruminating.
They tried ketamine a few times on his deathbed but I think he was on too much morphine to benefit from that.
We used to have that, Trump 45 ripped it up.
I often feel this way and my inner-angry-atheist called the shots for years, but so many of us have done this, and we've formed a bubble thinking angry atheism is spreading and it's not. In reality we've just ceded the most important debates, the ones that morality can be baked into - LGBT rights, immigrant rights, death penalty, etc - leaving the left without the support we need to win in these arenas.
If you really want progressive ideals to win, drop the attitude about religion, run the other way - embrace religious progressives, support progressive faith communities, and watch as we start winning elections again.
