Capitalism is a funnel -> those with capital extract additional capital from those without. I say this as a small business owner, just barely turning towards "winning" the game if capitalism after decades on the other side. It's a resource snowball, and only a few can win.

Ideally, there is regulation, scaling taxes and redistribution. That part seems more broken the further along you get.

This is a real phenomenon. Men are more attractive when they're already in a relationship.

There are similar psychological effects that exist elsewhere. A job applicant is more attractive if they currently have a job. A scholarship application is more attractive if you list your existing scholarships. The effect is basically: someone else found you desirable, and therefore I must also.

The effect is so strong that it encourages people to fake it to gain the benefits.

I tried to get out of my bed today, but I am a fossil.

If the Jays win, Trump will bomb Toronto, the capital of Canada. We should probably just lose in the playoffs.

I saw this documentary about it -- Canadian Bacon.

Ah, fuck it. We don't need Toronto. Go Jays!

As consumers have grown less worried about whether their diamonds are mined or made, many have turned to cost-friendly lab grown diamonds. And that’s having a big impact on the diamond mining industry — including for Canada.

He looks like Rod Stewart, claims to never sleep, and once had to hire a detective because teenage pranks got out of control. So how did a local realtor become Winnipeg Famous, and what personal challenges drove this larger than life character to put his face all over the city?

Remove LEGO from this headline and it's super mundane.

$1400 is what -- a single Millennium Falcon set?

Hey, AI can't get them right, why should we? ;)

This has to be one of the best conceived villains ever.

I just love the idea of a fragment of a personality slowly going insane in another person's head.

New data from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and a CBC News investigation suggest ongoing problems with country-of-origin signage in Canadian grocery stores. CBC also found questionable Canadian branding in some stores.

We're very lucky that she is super calm outside, and just loiters when we are out with her.

I'm about a third of the way through the first book. The primary mysteries (what the hell is up with this crazy planet, and what the hell as these "demons") has not been resolved. The escapism is great, but the writing is mediocre. So I'm wondering if anyone has an opinion.

I'll probably finish the first book either way, but unsure if I should be sale hunting for the rest of the series.

The latest best-selling novels might be in your stack of beach reads, but could reading them benefit your mental health? That's the idea behind bibliotherapy, the concept of reading as a therapeutic method to improve our well-being.
