FYI, the article was presumably taken down because many of the quotes turned out to have been fabricated, and they said they were investigating this. (I don't think that they are trying to cover up anything, just that they have not gotten around to written an official response yet, given that this is a recent development.)

Post-script: This piece is not intended to criticize or judge anyone involved. Who among us hasn’t, at some point, mistaken a party balloon for a cartel drone? Let him cast the first stone.
That is so cool! Thank you for sharing this. 🙂
Oh, interesting, I thought that was the definition of symbiosis!
(Also, don't forget to escape the parenthesis in your Wikipedia link.)
So it may actually be a mind-altering symbiote?
In addition, they gave us the Statue of Liberty.
A French politician actually called for it to be returned—to be clear, it was just a single politician, not the whole government—and the Trump administration said (very heavily paraphrasing), "No, it's ours, and also you suck for being invaded by Germany, so we deserve it more than you." However, I personally find it ironic that the administration is so attached to it, given the famous poem inscribed on its base that is inseparable from the signifiance of the statue:
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep, ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
"The abuse of trans people will continue until their mental stability improves!"
Testimonial evidence is still evidence, and documentary evidence can be faked so it is not foolproof.
Have I [emphasis mine] just been unwittingly sheltered when it comes to peoples’ views on Epstein? (Genuine question.)
I wouldn’t call it unwittingly sheltered. More like programed by right-wing media to never trust the victim when women step forward.
That is a peculiar thing to say about me.
Now I am too busy being distracted by terrible salad dressings to notice that I am pure awareness without attribute. 😟
I hate vinegar.
It also is not a good look that they simply made the article disappear without any acknowledgement of why they took it down appearing on the front page. I will give them the benefit of the doubt, for now, that this was not intended as a coverup, but rather was just something they figured they could do quickly to retract the article while working out how to formally respond to what happened (e.g., they may need to fire the person involved). However, as you said, this kind of thing will just cause the matter to fester, especially since they are continuing to publish stories as if nothing had happened.
