MODERATOR OF

On Wednesday, Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer announced that he and the seven Democratic members of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Government Affairs are demanding the files, citing “a century-old and little-known” statute known as the “rule of five.”

Under the rule, executive agencies are, upon the request of five members of the Homeland Security Committee, required to submit “any information requested of it relating to any matter within the jurisdiction of the committee.”

You're welcome. I forgot The Verge sometimes paywalls it's articles.

Reminds me when I found a promising book by H. G. Wells only to have a friend point out that it also promoted eugenics as well. And I was, like, oh... o_o;

On one hand, I like that EVs are leaps and bounds above gas guzzlers. On the other, it does still reinforce our current car culture.

On April 2, 1870, Woodhull's letter to the editor of the New York Herald was published, announcing her candidacy. She was influenced by retired Civil War general and congressman Benjamin Butler by basing her candidacy on the idea that there was no need for women to have special legislation to win suffrage as they already had attained it through the 14th and 15th Amendments of the Constitution.

Woodhull was nominated for president of the United States by the newly formed Equal Rights Party on May 10, 1872, at Apollo Hall, New York City. A year earlier, she had announced her intention to run. Also in 1871, she publicly spoke out against the government only being composed of men; she proposed the development of a new constitution and the creation of a new government a year thence. Her nomination was ratified at the convention on June 6, 1872, making her the first woman candidate.

Press X to Doubt.

Let me catch you up. On July 15th, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent Whoop a letter. In it, the FDA declared that Whoop — maker of a niche fitness tracker favored by elite athletes — had crossed a line. Its new Blood Pressure Insights feature, the regulator said, was being marketed to customers without undergoing the proper clearance process.

In response, Whoop pulled out the W word: wellness.

In the world of health and wearable tech, “wellness” is sort of like a “get out of jail free” card. Some advanced health features, like EKGs and atrial fibrillation notifications, require regulatory clearance before consumers can use them. These features could be interpreted as diagnostic in nature or prompt a person to make a medical decision. Others, like step tracking and blood oxygen measurements, don’t require FDA oversight at all. They’re simply meant to make living a healthy life easier by helping you visualize certain measurable markers. Those features fall under the wellness umbrella. They’re “just for fun.”

Five seems to be the most plausible. Although knowing how shit corporate security is, I foresee a mix of three and four being common.

The fact that Trump himself has the power (e.g. revealing the RFK and MLK files) but hides behind excuses instead of just outright sharing what he claims to know is still all the more damming. Watergate is famous for the cover up more than the crime itself.
