It might not be fucked with tooo much, I've seen the sun look similar when there was wildfire smoke nearby, with the right zoom and perspective you can get a view like this. It's too compressed to tell how realistic of a photo it is though.

He seems like the type who may have learned Mandarin specifically for reading works with phrases like that ahah.

It's really satisfying to me to hear white westerners speaking Asian languages well, like I am just so used to horrible racist caricatures it's refreshing to see proper fluency.

That's how I heard it, like saying "what is it that you are describing as a cult?", depending on your reading of it. Like "you're an asshole!" - "who's an asshole?" She went on to try to say there was a cult with the organ harvesting, so I think she was trying to say 'you're the cultist, not us!'

There seems to be a lot of active socialists in my part of the country and historic support for women's and queer rights, I wonder if it has to do with knowledge of indigenous cultures from my region? Several tribes active here had a matriarchal governance structure, they would have rotating councils of women meet to discuss issues and distribution of resources in what could be described as a socialist system. Nearly all political knowledge in the west is rooted in white imperialist ideologies, my heart aches thinking where we could be today if egalitarian or socialist tribes were allowed to flourish.

According to the WFTV article:

Jeff said this type of scheme, known as an overpayment scam, is pervasive in the industry. “The scam targets contractors,” he explained, “And sometimes inadvertently affects homeowners in the process.” In an overpayment scheme, a scammer will seek out homes listed for sale on sites like Zillow or Redfin. Typically, they’ll target vacant homes.

The scammer will pretend to be the home’s owner, and ask local contractors to provide an estimate for some exterior work like a roof, driveway or painting.

The scammer and the contractor will agree to a price, and the scammer will mail or otherwise provide a check for more than the agreed upon price.

“Instead of being $20,000, there’ll be $22,000,” Jeff said. “Then, they’ll get a call from the supposed homeowner saying ‘Oh my gosh, there was a mistake.’”

The scammer will ask that the extra money be refunded. Shortly after the contractor sends the cash and occasionally after work begins, the scammer’s original check will bounce from the contractor’s bank account.

I have Samson headphones that I notice the build/material quality is a bit nicer than Anker, I had the Life Q20 and they fell apart, but that was after something like two years of rough use, although the actual speaker and electronics work fine and holds a charge. But yeah for the price I haven't seen any other brand perform as well.

I would bet you that your country has less problems with alcoholism into adulthood than the US though, from stats I've seen places that tend to have more relaxed drinking ages and customs like you say have fewer issues later on.

It's classic social darwinism, these people would have agreed with Nazi propaganda about wasting funds on disabled people. I've heard that stereotype about candy, I wonder if there really is any difference versus the average. When having issues with emotional regulation I find myself consuming tons of sugar and wanting to smoke a ton of weed, I could see the drive for drug-use and candy consumption having similar causes.

People just cannot properly empathize with others in these states if they haven't experienced them, like severe drug addiction or malnutrition. One of the big things they focus on during in-patient treatment for acute emotional or psychological distress is eating well. Even if people are getting enough calories, I wonder how their mental health is being affective by lack of certain nutrients that the brain uses. The majority of people in the US at least probably don't have very balanced diets.

I think it's much more prevalent than people even realize. I was riding in a car with the owner of a restaurant I worked with, the city council had been discussing safe-injection sites and similar issues, my boss casually said "they should just overdose, I don't see why they are arguing about this." He was generally a nice enough guy, kind to people, it was pretty appalling to hear. And then not long after I heard Trump mention 'in China they execute drug dealers, that's why they don't have a drug problem there.' It turns out a lot of conservatives believe in the death penalty for selling drugs.

You better fucking do it right and not put a speaker in the horn and pretend, like apparently they do these days, even with Taps at funerals, this whole world is a sham.
