I really think it being a one syllable quip helped it become the go to buzzword. Woke as it's used now was first popularized by black people primarily, a lot of the push against 'woke' comes from white nationalists (who are ultimately driving most right-wing discourse today) and they love co-opting any term possible.
tocopherol
It's like combat, companies like this see it as necessary to take every protective step possible, they have an inferior product so manipulation is the only way to maintain their monopoly
I basically only interact with hexbear posts I just don't feel like making another account plz let me live
Cringe, prepare for purge
Facebook and others actively promote harmful content because they know it drives interactions, I believe it's possible to punish corps without making the internet overly policed.
You have views that are independently more left or right, but say if your views were a political party, it would be placed on a spectrum from left to right based on how many of these positions fall on either side of the spectrum. Typically the views that are seen as far left and far right are mutually exclusive, like authoritarian centralized governance versus decentralization, increased immigration vs decreased, but it's true there is a lot of nuance lost when things are viewed that way.
"I want to eradicate non-whites and install a christo-fascist dictator" is as obnoxious as "all people deserve housing and healthcare and a system based on extracting all excess profit from workers is exploitation"
Sorry to say if your views are closer to true libertarianism and the principles favored by those links you would likely be considered distinctly leftist. Dbzer0 is a primarily anarchist community, on the far-left.
To be fair they do say they "need to be" transparent, not that they were going to be :p
I've never noticed any defederation from my instance or drama aside from the main posts talking about it, and if you came here interested in a piracy community it's good for that, lemmy.dbzer0.com. "Lemmy.World" seems to be where all the drama happens hah. I have only ever made one account, interact with several different instances without issue. I agree using several accounts would be annoying.
I also remember my Democrat mayor enthusiastically doing 'too much too fast' when authorizing police crackdowns on protests
I think the author would agree with this sentence lol, I've read nearly everything Liu Cixin has written that's been translated into English, he did say somewhere that sci-fi wouldn't be interesting if it was about what was the likely thing to happen. He said he doesn't believe the stories he writes are possible or likely, but just a way to explore different concepts.
