The idea of climate change and it's causes IS falsifiable though, which is why taking actions related to that cause is a bit different than something that has no way to be proven.

Let me ask you this, if you had a website with a community that relentlessly mocks communism and/or socialism, and lets some nazi posts rise to the top, what would you call that website?

Reddit?

Do you doubt that? What is your idea of the left? What is seen as 'left' or even what conservatives call 'the radical left' in the US would likely be seen as center or center-right globally.

It's considered 'left' to support queer and trans rights, and there are a good number of people that seem to have a problem with that whether my queer self is political or not.

My view of their argument is, you can't have a 'fair' share while you have a boss that controls the productive forces, while you are forced to either work under their employ or starve. The arrangement itself is unfair. Though I definitely still would advocate for better worker's rights, wages and such right now.

It's a good view right now in this instance, and although historic what is the concrete effect of him joining a picket line? He can easily still be working against the ultimate goals of the unions. Though the backlash if he took obvious action against the unions could be much worse now that he has been seen in such a way. But yeah, we shouldn't be too critical because it is still above what most politicians do in regards to unions.

I agree with the comment currently below mine not to let this sort of gesture diffuse the drive for deeper changes.

That's great you didn't let your self-doubt stop you from getting into it. I always hear people saying things like they just don't know how to do math or whatever but I think they just haven't had the right teachers or enough practice with it. Some people might take a bit more time but can get to just as high a level as quicker 'math brains' can, or whatever the subject is.

That's true about 'in the style of', I did get some interesting responses when I said in the style of Allen Ginsberg, but it would just rip lines straight from him at times. As someone who enjoys creative writing I don't see a necessarily beneficial use for AI to be extremely capable at creating poetry haha but I am interested in the mechanics of it and how it could be improved.

I love woodworking, I've been getting into it, it feels like a liberatory practice. In time I will make furniture better than the cheap and horrible quality shit people buy and throw away after a year. I never have had the tools or space to do it, but incredible fortune allowed me to get a job somewhere I can access a shop and my life is improving.

The workplace is connected to high level academia, so it's been inspirational to find true comrades even within this environment. It's easy to see the discourse within news media or mainstream forums and feel hopeless but I really believe there are good people working towards something better all over the place.

When ChatGPT was newer I saw a lot of posts about raps made by it, there were always this same flow. I tried to get it to make decent rhymes, but it cannot get out of the most cheesy typical rhyme scheme possible. This was 3.5, maybe 4 or other models are better. I found I could make interesting lines if I said something like "write a paragraph with as many words that rhyme with 'taken' as possible", and then you could do that with a few rhymes and twist those around to make an interesting verse.

I'm not sure if it's like this everywhere, but in Seattle when they would clear camps, if anything was wet they would consider it 'soiled' and would dumpster it rather then even pretend to try to store it. It rains frequently and they would often clear during especially rainy times, so using a loader they would destroy and dump absolutely everything straight into the dumpster without consideration.
