Touch Bar is the reason why I'm hesitant to increase specs on apple gear. I still own a macbook that works fine, has lots of SSD and RAM - and a discontinued touchbar.
Off topic, consider services that have no ads, e.g. pixelfed instead of Instagram, mastodon instead of twitter, teddit.net or a reddit clone, etc.
You don’t have to switch completely, just spending less time on ad supported platforms could be a noticeable ux improvement.
