That's not generally my experience. I still try DDG first, but probably 20-25% of the time, I have to switch back to Google. Oddly, not for the stuff in Japanese or related to Japan, but more tech and other such.

As a kid in the '80s, it was just the way some things smelled. Neither of my parents smoked by the time I was born, but lots of neighbors and others did. I later became a smoker and couldn't smell it anymore. When they finally banned smoking in Ohio, I quit and we learned what bars really smelled like (as I mentioned in a related thread: body odor, mold, and piss).
Edit 2: I worked at a fast food place in '95 or '96 and we had a smoking section, but also all the employees smoked in the tiny break area as well so it came from both sides. I would start smoking not long after this.
Not at all. No personal PC problems and none at work that impacted me (if any existed). Edit: and I didn't go anywhere that day that was impacted, although that seems more lucky since I did stop by a McDonalds for the first time in a month or more since it was in the shopping area my wife and I were at and several McD's were impacted in Japan, apparently.
Thanks, but, uh:
CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that the association between maternal smoking during pregnancy and offspring ADHD is not due to causal intrauterine effects, but reflects unmeasured confounding.
Neither? I am more wary after the launch of 6 and the issues, but I also say 'neither' because I'm simply not in the market for a new device.
Headline is a bit disingenuous as it is the most points (because the total points is higher) but only the second highest percentage (1987 still 1st).
My mom quit smoking before pregnancy, and dad never smoked. Still neurodivergent. I've not personally heard of a causal link there before.
I second that it's probably sewage unless it was actual trash waiting to be picked up.
The laws changed prior to the olympics coming, so it's not like it was pre-corona and pre-olympics. Even some places that didn't legally have to change used corona as an excuse because of the recommendations of the government (not law). Still a lot of places with smoking.
A lot of Japan as well, though the laws changed to ban it in some places prior to the olympics so (Tokyo, at least) isn't nearly as smokey as it was before corona and the olypmics.
In the US, I lived in a state that went non-smoking and later a city in another state that did. B.O. mixed with mold and a hint of piss is what it ended up smelling like.
Would you like fries with that for only a dollar more?
