I don't understand how this works. Won't be the paid users affected by it too? How does the program/mod knows when it got hacked, so it won't annoy paid customers?

Not that I know any of. Just wanted recommend it to you, if you test different distros. It's so nice to have multiple of them ready on a single USB stick. Just recently used it the first time and it's amazing.
I am a Vim user and TUI fan. It does not make any difference in my experience to use a fast GPU based terminal. Maybe something like st might startup faster, but that's it.
I used a number of terminals in the last decade and even 2 GPU accelerated ones, Kitty and Alacritty for about 2 years or so. Now I'm back on Konsole. I never saw a difference in their speed, because the terminal speed doesn't matter. Maybe there are edge cases, that's not something I discount. But for writing code or editing text files, or listing files with the shell, I never saw a difference or advancement for having a faster terminal.
However, where they differ greatly is in their customization, feature set and what dependencies they have.
I'm a non hopper guy. In 2008 wiped out Windows XP to switch fulltime to Ubuntu. Never hopped to any other distro until 13 years later in 2021 to Manjaro (based on Arch, but with changes and updates come in waves). Used it 1.5 years and was not happy and switched to EndeavourOS (closely based on Arch) and still use it, even after a new installation on a new machine. I thought about switching the distro, but it works so good and well and has what I need. NixOS was on my radar, but ultimately it would be too much of an experiment, change and needed time to learn. The uncertainty what to expect made me stay with what I know, as there was no reason for a change in my case.
The reason why I don't change too often the system is probably because I inform myself and know what to expect. Therefore the thing I chose is probably exactly what I want.

@Stillhart I was still waiting. One of the reasons is that I wanted to build a new computer (which happened last week) and waiting until the game got fixed a lot. Both happened. Now I am waiting for the launch of Phantom Liberty in a few days, as the base game will be dropped in price again. That's when I go into the game for the first time. And it will be the best version of the game so far.
@Vitaly Because it's the best browser. Plus it does not use the engine controlled by Google or Apple. I don't see any reason to switch to a different browser. If any, it would be a fork of Firefox.
Give it a week before the sorry.jpg is posted on Twitter.
