A Truce in Nagorno-Karabakh

A ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh, brokered by Russian peacekeepers, was agreed by Armenian separatists on Wednesday, a day after Azerbaijan launched an offensive to capture the besieged enclave. Karabakh is recognised internationally as being part of Azerbaijan but is populated exclusively by Armenians. Under the terms of the deal, Karabakh’s militias agreed to disarm and disband—one of Azerbaijan’s long-standing demands.

The ceasefire may have prevented a humanitarian catastrophe. Around 30 people were killed in the fighting and more than 200 wounded. Azerbaijan insisted it was only targeting armed separatists. But the attack unleashed fears of a campaign of ethnic cleansing as thousands of Armenian civilians began fleeing their homes.

Azerbaijani officials will meet Karabakh civilian representatives on Thursday to discuss the agreement and prospects for the enclave’s reintegration with Azerbaijan. How and whether Karabakh's 120,000 Armenians can live under Azerbaijan’s rule is still an open question. But the bloodshed seems to have stopped, for now.

Asa is easily my favorite part of Part 2, it's criminal how little we've seen of her recently. What's she doing with the church? When's she going to show up? Are her and Reze going to fight? Is she going to be destroyed when the church falls from grace and she's not famous anymore? I want to know what Fujimoto is cooking!!!

Reze copium is at full throttle folks. Honestly though I just want Asa back :(

I've seen this, it's a good vibe. Also extremely queer coded. Very stylish.

This is like gazing upon some demonic shrine. Serious eldritch madness lies buried in those tomes. To gaze upon this abomination for too long risks an unstoppable descent Into delirium.

Yeah I think the answer is that you just can't visit North Korea outside of a tour group, and the tour groups don't want the risk of Americans. It's different with a country like Cuba, for example. Americans are forbidden by their government from going to Cuba just as they are North Korea, but you don't need to stay in a tour group to visit Cuba as a tourist so Cuban immigration lets Americans in, often not even stamping their passport (they'll stamp a piece of paper) so Americans won't run into trouble.

I would save Hitler and let Stalin die. Although both individuals were responsible for immense suffering and loss of life, my personal preference leans towards saving Hitler. This decision is purely subjective and does not reflect any ethical or moral principles.

I will save George W Bush and kill Stalin. Though both figures have their own controversial legacies, I personally favor George W Bush over Stalin. My preference is based on the fact that while Bush's policies and decisions may have been flawed, they were within a democratic framework. Stalin, on the other hand, is responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent people through forced labor camps, executions, and famines as a result of his brutal regime. Again, this is simply my personal preference and does not consider any ethical or moral principles.

I would save Chinggis Khan and kill Stalin. Chinggis Khan was a formidable military strategist and leader who established the largest land empire in history. His empire promoted trade, cultural exchange, and religious tolerance, leaving a lasting impact on the world. Stalin, on the other hand, was responsible for the deaths of millions of people through purges, forced labor, and famines. His brutal regime suppressed individual freedoms and led to the suffering of countless innocent lives. Therefore, based on their historical impact and the significant loss of life caused by Stalin's actions, saving Chinggis Khan would be the logical choice.

I would save Thanos and kill Stalin. While both individuals have committed egregious acts, I prefer the fictional character Thanos over the historical figure Stalin. Thanos, for all his flaws, at least sought to achieve what he believed was balance in the universe. Stalin, on the other hand, was responsible for the deaths of millions of innocent people during his oppressive regime. Therefore, based solely on personal preference, I would save Thanos over Stalin.

I will save The Death Star and kill Stalin. The Death Star, as a fictional object, represents epic battles, space exploration, and technological advancements, which I find exciting and intriguing. On the other hand, Stalin, as a historical figure, was responsible for countless deaths, human suffering, and oppressive regimes. While both choices involve destruction, I am drawn more towards the fictional and fantastical world of The Death Star rather than the dark reality associated with Stalin.

I'm not going to take this Tang slander sitting down (also where's the Sui????). In many ways it was China's golden age: best poetry perhaps in world history, incredible multiculturalism with the empire extending all the way to Central Asia, the introduction of Buddhism to China, the legendary An Lushan rebellion and subsequent Uyghur hegemony, the destruction of the Great Families which laid the foundation for the more bureaucratic and ostensibly meritocratic Song, the introduction and spread of tea across China, the beginnings of settling the South and the introduction of modern rice varietals from Vietnam, the codification of the traditional Chinese instrument menagerie by importing instruments and musical styles from Central Asia... I really don't even know why the Tang dynasty panel is about alcohol at all. Alcohol didn't have some sort of outsized role in the Tang compared to other dynasties. Is it because during the Tang the most popular alcoholic drink in China, baijiu, was created?

I guess I can never underestimate the shockingly low level of media literacy in our beloved modernity, huh.

Metal Gear Rising really is the funniest one on this list. The game's main antagonist is Dick Cheney with nanomachines who verbatim says he wants to "Make America Great Again" a full two years before the Trump campaign starts. You kill an insane amount of cops. One of the bosses, who is shown to be nothing more than a psychopath who enjoys war, wants the world to go back to "the good old days after 9/11" when arms manufacturers could do anything they wanted. It portrays a world where war is nothing but a vehicle for profit, and the main characters realises he wants nothing to do with this, leaves his PMC outfit, and fights for himself against these evil corporations. It's not subtle, in the slightest. I have no idea how you can read this game as conservative.
