I have to admit, I'm still in shock that this is currently happening. Somehow, against all odds, the Palestinians are still occupying Israeli territory (or rather have reclaimed Palestinian land, obviously Israel are the real occupiers here). Over a thousand Israelis killed, and still no response by the IDF other than indiscriminate air strikes, the kind they've been doing for decades. And all this after years of outside commentators saying the movement for Palestinian liberation is dead. Whatever happens next, nobody can take this moment, this feeling, away. An unbelievable blow has been struck, indeed is still being struck.
This is about to be the United States' taste of a Suez Crisis level event, isn't it?
They broadly don't. I have friends that immigrated to the United States whose parents are communist party members back in China.
the fascist death cult state cares not a whit for the lives of its own citizens
The US can send as much "funding" as it wants to both Israel and Ukraine, but money can't buy more artillery shells if there's none to buy. It's been what, four days? We'll see how things stand once the ground war inside Gaza kicks off.
We're already watching Israel stagger. They've already done it. Gotta believe there's more in store.
Israel will always get priority, that much is clear. During the Yom Kippur War, the United States diverted a lot of weapons and ammunition from South Vietnam to Israel, leading to the former's defeat (which, granted, was only a matter of time). If this war in Israel expands into two or three fronts, if it lasts more than like a week or whatever, I fully expect the same to happen re: munitions to Ukraine.
Do not doubt for a second Palestine is ready for a ground war in Gaza. The fighters knew this was coming; you could make a case that the attacks were meant to kick this off, even. Everybody in Gaza knows what's coming. They've already surprised us with this amazingly successful offensive; let's see what's in store for the sequel.
Yeah ok, let's assume this violence is "pointless." What the fuck else do you expect Palestinians to do? Sit down and die quietly? The cycle of violence continues regardless of what Palestinians do. They're the only ones who can break it, because it's obvious that Israel won't. Revolutionary violence is never pretty. It is, however, necessary. Long live the fighters.
What's doubly funny about this is there's a movie going around at the festivals called "Zone of Interest" which is basically this. It's a movie about a German family living a pleasant life, going on holidays, having parties, like two blocks away from Auschwitz. Obviously the movie goes "wow, look how fucked up this is, isn't this fucked" but the amount of people who will then apply that lens to real life is like zero.
