Some interesting analysis in the Jerusalem Post which aligns what I think a lot of us have long suspected here:

A number of factors seem to have caused a delay [to the IDF invasion of Gaza], but sources have told The Jerusalem Post that one factor has been a growing concern that Hezbollah is waiting for the moment that most IDF ground forces are committed to Gaza to open a full front with the IDF in the north.

In this narrative, the fact that Hezbollah did not engage at the start of the war Saturday morning and has kept its attacks on Israel at a fairly low threshold does not prove that it is deterred but is part of an elaborate fake-out to lure the IDF into a false sense of security, similar to what Hamas pulled off in the south.

Coupled with what Iran's foreign minister is saying, I think it's close to kicking off. Once the IDF begins the ground invasion, things will get spicy. Let's hope everybody keeps their fingers off the nuke triggers.

"I stated that the time for political solutions is coming to an end and the possible expansion of the war to other fronts is approaching the inevitable stage," Amir-Abdollahian noted.

The other way this all ends, however, is war between China and the US. This is why there's massive factional fighting inside the US on whether or not to attack China. One side recognizes it's suicide, China manufactures so much of the US's weapons arsenal that to attack them would be the end of the United States as we know it. Granted, if it's war, how the BRICS stops the US from nuking everybody once their carrier groups are destroyed by Dongfeng missiles I've no idea.

This is honestly incredible. Like, it just keeps going. "With the island." "No, haha sorry nice try, if Jeff Epstein were deceased, I would know about it." "Ok we'll just call up Ghislaine." Unbelievalbe.

Yeah, I think this is the point of Michael Hudson, Emmanuel Todd, and others. That "GDP" as we understand it is mostly hogwash, that dollars are great but a lot of what passes for "the economy" is tied up in fictitious capital that when push comes to shove does not produce goods, and can't be switched to wartime production. So much of the US and the rest of the countries that have embraced neoliberal economics in particular are so wedded to real estate and financialisation that Russia can outproduce them in artillery shells and the like, even though Russia's GDP is like 3% that of the Global North. From a very recent interview with Todd here:

War becomes a test of political economy, it is the great revealer. The GDP of Russia and Belarus represents 3.3% of Western GDP (the US, Anglosphere, Europe, Japan, South Korea), practically nothing. One can ask oneself how this insignificant GDP can cope and continue to produce missiles.

The reason is that GDP is a fictional measure of production. If we take away from the American GDP half of its overbilled health spending, then the “wealth produced” by the activity of its lawyers, by the most filled prisons in the world, then by an entire economy of ill-defined services, including the “production” of its 15 to 20 thousand economists with an average salary of 120,000 dollars, we realize that an important part of this GDP is water vapor.

Also has been ruled literally since independence by one of two centre-right parties that keep switching places despite having exactly the same horrible policies.

Thanks for compiling this, comrade.

Yeah, official the Irish follow the EU line as far as support for Israel, but talk to any Irish person and they're decently pro-Palestine. Palestinian flags are a frequent sight, especially in the north.

Insanely perfect. Chinese memes are too powerful.

Hey, candy crush isn't going to play itself! Our boys in blue are doing their part in keeping the American economy afloat.

Genuine insanity. To hold on for four fucking days is a feat beyond my imagining.
