Arch is great because the package manager, pacman, is super easy and kept neurotically updated at all times for an insane amount of packages. The ArchWiki is also amazing. However, if you're happy with Kubuntu I don't see any major reason to switch outside of curiosity.

I 100% agree, ran Nix for a few months until I switched back to Arch. Nix was cool, and having a declarative config was great, but in the end it became too much hassle. Arch just works.

Note that they've already done this, albeit a much more minor attack on a Saudi oil depot in Jeddah in early 2022, and indeed oil prices exploded. This was just one attack on a minor depot. As far as I remember it was also mostly drones. So the capability and the will is there.

Not only is Moby Dick of all things distinctly not a book that can be ruined in the slightest by being "spoiled," and in fact is the kind of ending that is foreshadowed and almost said outright by the narrator throughout the book from the beginning on, but it's such a shitty way to view media. Does nobody rewatch anything? Every time I reread one of my favorite books I get something else out of it. Repeated rewatches of my favorite films bring me such delight on each viewing. Pursuing this spoiler-obsessed plot lens by which all stories should be viewed is so exhausting and boring. Moby Dick is the kind of book that rewards rereads. It grows in your mind, it blooms like a flower. To stop reading it because you "know how it ends" is to rob yourself of one of the great books, perhaps the greatest USAmerican book of all time.

Imagine calling Hamas "liberals." Could never be me. Luckily our opinions here are irrelevant, I support the decisions of those who do the fighting.

The entire budget of the public library system is equivalent to the NYPD's funding to encrypt their radios so citizens can't hear police scanners anymore. This is an intentional "budget cut" to make people feel pain.

#3 will not happen. Egypt is not taking in 2 million refugees, even if Sisi agrees to that he'd be couped immediately. Egypt cannot take in another 100,000 refugees, let alone 2 million, without collapsing outright.

Germania delenda est. Spin it off into dozens of little states, like God intended. I want Hanover back. I want to visit the Kingdom of Württemberg. Restore the free city of Lübeck. The only caveat is that Prussia should absolutely not come back, instead turn it into Greater Pomerania, whilst the area around Berlin turns into a Herero protectorate.

Not really sure I understand what some folks are saying in this thread. China meeting with the US is good. Deescalation is good. China's winning. The longer no war breaks out the more China's economy develops, the further China pulls away from the United States. Even if war is inevitable, more time only benefits the Chinese, and they're not going to poke the insane bear and risk the lives of billions. China does not want WWIII, we shouldn't either. All high level meetings between Chinese and US officials are something to celebrate because there's nothing the US can do to stop China. This is not a Chinese foreign policy L.

It's truly absurd. Non-violence as an ideology and not one tactic amongst many has always been ridiculous. Lib favorite Gandhi literally said, in 1946 (!):

Hitler killed five million [sic] Jews. It is the greatest crime of our time. But the Jews should have offered themselves to the butcher’s knife. They should have thrown themselves into the sea from cliffs.....It would have aroused the world and the people of Germany.... As it is they succumbed anyway in their millions.

That's the end conclusion of non-violence. Just fucking die, no matter what the situation is. Never use violence. Insanity.
