No to Caleb Williams. Dude's averaged 3.2 seconds before getting rid of the ball.

He was only an OC, and with Trestman & Eberflus alone, we've had historically bad HCs, but I still say the last hire of Lovie Smith's tenure with the Bears is still the worst.

That year, we brought in Brandon Marshall, Martellus Bennett, Alshon Jeffrey, finally had a decent offensive line, and we had Matt Forte along with Jay Cutler.

On the defensive side of the ball, we had a defense that outscored multiple offenses by the halfway point of the season, and was on par to break the franchise record of fewest points allowed.

So what the fuck went wrong, especially since the team was still 10-6? Literally every fucking week, the offense looked like it was getting ready for its first preseason game. I don't have as fond of memories of Jay Cutler as everyone else, but "fuck it, chuck it" was the only thing he could do all year, because the offense was always slow & vanilla as fuck.

Also, I know it ain't technically Mike Tice's fault Major Wright ended Brian Urlacher's career on a hail mary by the Seahawks, but the fucking Seahawks never should have been in the game enough to where that hail mary was necessary, so, I still blame Mike Tice.

I challenge anyone skeptical of this post to go re-watch any part of the 2012 offense and point to me where Tice actually had something cooking. Even god damn Getsy, Trestman, and Nagy have had little moments of genius, but everything Mike Tice did to that offense was an abomination.

Final thing, and what I'm getting at: while guys like Eberflus and Trestman were horrible hires on so many levels, the absolute worst either of them has done is win a few less games than they should have.

The god damn 2012 Bears had absolutely EVERYTHING for a legit SB run, but they had an OC that kept them from even sniffing the fucking playoffs despite being 10-6. If Lovie hires even an average OC, the Bears are absolutely SB favorites.

I want to keep Mooney, but last 2 years, something isn't right, and he should go to somewhere like KC

Damn, I regret forgetting to watch this one

I see absolutely no reason to move on from Fields next year, even if our top pick is a QB. Make the new guy earn it & let Bagent in on the competition, too. His mechanics are fucked, but I think he could surprise everyone by taking a huge step next year.

My preference would be to draft MHJr, trade back & target a QB with potential later in the 1st or in the 2nd round.

With that said, nothing will freaking matter if we get another shit head coach

  1. Fire Getsy

  2. Fire Eberflus

  3. Anyone involved in the coaching search last time can never be involved again

  4. Again, keep Fields & Bagent, give them a good coaching staff, but also draft a QB

  5. If Ryan Poles spends the top 2 picks on defense, I swear to fucking god I'm done

Darnell Mooney. I hope Ryan Poles is stuck in a Groundhogs Day situation until he re-signs him

Erik Kramer on the status of the Bears

Dude shares my opinion on a lot. He doesn't necessarily think Maye & Williams are above everyone else, so if they can find a guy they like in the late 1st or the 2nd, they should trade down and add as much talent as possible to the offense. He also said we've seen enough of Justin Fields and he needs to go.

The only reason to keep Fields is if you want to keep the rookie off the field.

Fields don't throw it deep often enough to be a gunsligner

Bears

I wanted to solidify both lines & have the generational talent at WR along with Moore & Mooney. I don't think the top tier is really better than the second tier, and if we could keep someone like Ewers off the field while the offense gels with the new staff, we could have something special.

Absolutely not. Drake Maye or trade down

I'd be happy with him, but apoplectic over Caleb, who is another Trubisky/Fields in the making

Cardinals, you want Caleb Williams
