Literally every step of this year long journey to get this facility investigated has been “you need to pay for a lawyer” from state agencies.

Like, I’m sorry, I thought sending kids home from school covered in unexplained bruises would be a crime? Like fuck, I’m working two jobs and can’t afford a fucking mattress, but I seem to be spending more time on the child protective things than the people who have salaries and health insurance for this? And you also want me to pay money?

I went there as a kid. They know who I am at this point.

CEO attempted a protective order on me, LOL. I’ve never spoken to her or been in her vicinity, but pathological liars going to do what they do best. It was really weird - I wasn’t notified or anything, just was checking to see what my court records looked like and I guess she tried something. When I have money I’ll have to go up to the court house and try to get a copy of whatever she said.

I have multiple reports of physical abuse at a troubled teen facility. Every government office I have contacted has told me that they don’t have jurisdiction.

The parents sign an agreement acknowledging that their children may be restrained or injured. There is basically no accreditation - only the Joint Commission, which is a private organization that will give their seal of approval to anyone who will fork over the cash. It takes Medicaid and gets school free lunch - so it’s taking government money, but not accountable to the government?

It’s a “partial hospitalization program.” Not a hospital enough to be regulated as a hospital, not a school enough to be regulated as a school… you can just buy a building, call yourself this, and no one can stop you from doing whatever you want?

The people running it did used to run a hospital for the state - they were shut down after they killed a kid. I believe they’ve killed a kid this year, based on conversations with former employees, but I don’t think anyone had the authority to look into it?

I forwarded a few accounts of abuse to Aetna, who cover services there, but this is the email I got. I’m not a member.

I’ve been trying to get this facility investigated for more than a year. I’ve contacted journalists, I’ve filed Open Records Requests, talked to multiple child advocacy organizations, CPS, the state medical association… the answer I keep getting is “we can’t do anything about it, we don’t have jurisdiction.”

I don’t understand why it’s legal to run essentially black box torture facilities for children.

I always wanted children.

I can’t afford one.

What should I look out for as far as those security features?

I specifically want to run the Sims 2 with a 20+ gb mod folder, which idk how well that would work with proton.

I worked for a shady evil company, and when they illegally fired me, I never ended up returning a laptop - thinkpad running windoze.

Let’s say I wanted to put Win 8 or similar on it so I can play some video games. What would potentially be barriers to doing this? Said evil company is hopefully going out of business soon, and is a clusterfuck anyway, so they might not end up asking for it back.

I live in an area where most of the unhoused people in my city stay.

It has started getting insanely hot. People are going to die.

If I load up my little buggy with an ice chest and water bottles, what would be the best way to get people water?

I’ve thought it might be good to wear some kind of church’s shirt or something - I know that police tend to fuck with people who help the homeless, especially in my area.

I’m too broke to give out sunscreen or other sundries but are there other things I should carry with me too?

I get if the answer is “just do it” - just looking for advice if other people have done this.

I have heard that putting sugar in my fuel tank may lead to my vans not working anymore. This is an outcome I am looking to avoid.

I use these vans to transport children, who I usually pick up from sites about a few miles out. I would be really miffed if those vans were disabled in such a way that they were not able to make it to those children.

Are there any other actions I should avoid taking with my vans? I really wouldn’t want to cause damage to them in such a way that they would fail before the children got inside them.

That place is worse than the one I went to as a kid, but I still feel so sick reading it. I have flashbacks to being told I would have to change.

I don’t understand why these places are allowed to exist.

Inpatient versus outpatient psychiatric care - ie, being trapped in a residential psychiatric hospital, against your will, usually due to suicidal ideation.

Inpatient rights don’t seem to be on anyone’s radar. The only organization I know of is MindFreedom, which organizes letter writing and phone campaigns to try to protect people from forced medications and electric shock.

In the Southern US, it is One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. But I don’t hear about protests at hospitals and troubled teen facilities. I don’t hear about people pushing for things like a patient “bill of rights” in care. I don’t see a recognition of the ways that psychiatry is weaponized against harmless but “deviant” behavior.

Children in care especially seem to be utterly voiceless. A “troubled teen” is automatically assumed to be a liar, so any allegations of abuse can be (literally!) dumped in the paper shredder.

Same with house centipedes. They are friends, even if they look like something out of a sci fi movie.

fingerprints

Is that really a concern? I’m US-based, so our cops are sadists…

One of my projects is something that I would be willing to be arrested for. That kind of civil disobedience would draw attention to my cause, and it is one that I think most people would be empathetic too - my mission is drawing attention to abuse at a children’s psychiatric facility.

I did have an adventure today - even got chased down by a dog! Feel like a proper crimethinc member.

Phytoplankton are the biggest producers of oxygen on the planet. Not trees. Mass die outs of phytoplankton is an end game scenario.

The other effect is that most gas’s solubility in liquid decreases with temperature. If you leave your can of soda out on a hot day, you can see this in action.

Our ocean is the our biggest “carbon sink.” As it heats, it can hold less, shifting the chemical equilibrium to release more CO2 in the atmosphere.

I’m wondering if that could counter the ocean acidification effect over a long time - if we could get a negative feedback loop that would counteract the effects of increasing pH.

We are already having issues with commercial mussel production - the ocean needs to be a basic environment for oysters and mollusks and other creatures to build their shells. In a 7.8-8.1 environment, we are going to have serious problems with those species.

Another concerning thing is the ice-albedo positive feedback loop. Sea ice is more reflective than dark ocean water. Dark ocean water warms, melts the sea ice, and then exposes even more dark ocean water to heat.

Former strait-laced full time professional normie. As a queer, recent events have broken my brain and I’m ready to start fighting.

Posters seem safe. I’ve heard wheatpasting is a thing? It seems like it would be harder to get in and out that way - the double sided tape someone could load up ahead of time, hit and run. Is the appeal of wheatpasting that it’s natural/cheap?
