Sorry, my bad. I meant like Calckey/Mastodon (Twitter), Friendica (FB), Pixelfed (IG), Peertube (YT), etc. Some would be easier than others though.

It's in the works! You can see a demo of it on kbin.pub. There's a lot of things coming down the pike, but it's still early and the dev is doing a lot keeping the place afloat at the moment with the reddit hug of death 😅
I'm also looking forward to it, but in the meantime using the mobile site as a PWA works pretty well if you haven't already discovered that.
The devs of kbin and Lemmy have that on their list of things to do, make cross-instance links work nicer. But they have a lot on their plate at a moment, so it could be some time before that comes about.
Or kbin. Or if you're really ambitious, one of the non-link aggregation products.
Same, though I also like that I can interact with Mastodon/Calckey posts from here as well.
And my axe!
🙄
Yeah, that's not fair to say it's not worth it. Different strokes for different folks. With no algorithm it takes some effort to curate your feed, but because it doesn't appeal to you doesn't mean it's not worth it.
It's all the same information on the fediverse, and we all get to choose how we want to interact with it.
Have you tried kbin? It lets you follow mastodon easier than Lemmy, so sorta best of both worlds.
I don't think Lemmy allows following users, but kbin does as well as interacts with Calckey/Mastodon. This allows you to follow topics their from the comfort of kbin (and if they enabled it, Lemmy too).
The trick with Mastodon/Calckey is to follow hashtags, not people in the case you're talking about. While not important here, it's the main way of finding other posts of interest there. So you can follow #topic and anytime someone posts about it, it'll appear in your timeline.
You are correct about the timing, if you're not on regularly you will miss posts. But the nice thing about the fediverse is the content is all the same, you just decide how you feel like experiencing it.
To some extent. I've come across a lot of new people who think having one account on the fediverse allows them to log into any other platform. "I wanted to check out Mastodon but when I tried to log in with my beehaw account it said I wasn't registered!"

that's a more common way across the fediverse and also how you follow people, including those on other platforms like Mastodon and Calckey, etc.
It's super new still and the dev is working on getting better instructions up on how to spin up an instance. After that they'll start popping up.
