@BiggestBulb
using kbin mostly on mobile devices, i am time and again surprised that kbin works kinda fine > e.g. kbin deals better with bad internet connections than any other fedi software i have come to know so far > given that kbin is still early beta, this is impressive

i think that we should be patient, and keep reporting bugs :)

@ernest
thank you! tags from kbin do federate on microblogging fedi - kbin users should use the the tags section rather than the text body though

  1. i also had a look at friendica; sadly, friendica seems not to be capable to pick up tagged posts from kbin > see e.g. https://friendica.opensocial.space/search?tag=kbin > tried my luck at several friendica instances, and every time: no content from kbin

  2. tags in kbin threads do not display on kbin pwa, e.g. https://kbin.social/m/kbinDevlog/t/692551 > on microblogging fedi platforms, i can see three tags: kbin, fediverse, and kbinDevlog for the magazine > with kbin pwa, neither kbin nor fediverse show up

@minnieo
ernest's approach is unique in many ways, and
the kbin community is highly responsive to new ideas

@YugiohMaster88
not at all tbh

when firefish was still calckey, it was a thing > but for a variety of reasons, the project came to a standstill, and two other misskey forks took the lead: iceshrimp and sharkey > as strange as it seems, firefish has already become some kind of legacy ware

moreover, the *keys have federation issues, especially when it comes to lemmy, but kbin is also heavily affected

@Masimatutu
i agree, and i also recommend friendica!

@skullgiver
when it comes to creativity, mastodon ui is a pre-emptive strike against creativity > vanilla mastodon does not support emoji reactions, and damn!!!!!!! mastodon ui hides that there are other platforms on the fedi than mastodon > mastodon is perfectly fine for all those who want to see mastodon content, and nothing else > creativity? no! creativity starts with openness, and mastodon surely has a rather isolating approach

@feditips @fediverse @FediFollows @mention @masimatutu @HamSwagwich

@livus
compared to other *keys, sharkey development is rapid atm, but so far, @Amelia and @Marie have not put federation issues with kbin and lemmy into focus - this is why i tagged them

@livus
accs on misskey and its cutlery set (firefish, foundkey, iceshrimp and sharkey being the most important among them) are mostly unaware of what is happening on the threadiverse

mostly using a hajkey acc myself, i agree with @brome - although i tend to use kbin more frequently now, as kbin development regained steam

if sharkey were able to federate better with both kbin and lemmy, this would be a giant leap @Amelia @Marie

@Vej @scrubbles @Blaze

Papua New Guinea is experiencing an exponential surge in HIV infections, a health advocate in the country says.

A key problem for Papua New Guinea police in getting on top of illegal gun imports is finding the evidence linking to the sponsors of the trade.

The province’s police commander said clashes resulted in one death and three injuries.

performance issues on the *keys seemingly never stop

currently, there are two different kbin magazines (=groups/communities) on history which slightly differ in their scraping habits:

(a) https://kbin.social/m/history/microblog/newest > has a soft spot for anything cinema, hence a little filmi for some reason

(b) https://fedia.io/m/history/microblog/newest > has a penchant for the history of both punk music and classical music (admittedly, i love this combination 😁)

additionally, both kbin magazines share an anticolonial stance

so if you like to delve into history on the fedi, i recommend taking a look at both magazines

disclaimer: i own both magazines

some days ago, i took ownership of the abandoned kbin magazine india ...

being a german citizen myself, i only did this to prevent that some sanghi would take ownership of this once vivid magazine which was characterized by a heavy anti-hindutva stance

if you are interested in breathing life into the kbin magazine india, and if you are from india yourself, or belong to the indian diasporas, feel free to contact me 😀

boosts welcome ✅

if your internet connection is slow to non-existent, kbin is your way to go > it just works (tm) even under bad conditions #kbin #fediverse

idkfa works by creating a two sided proxy. The frontside is public internet facing, and presents a single AP actor. The backside is intranet facing, communicating with a cornucopia of mastohonkoma servers. As activities pass through idkfa it rewrites them to ensure the actor and id fields are consistent. It also handles Follow requests.

alt texts from pixelfed are being displayed on kbin (kbin supports alt text, but it's rarely visible) > in this case, alt texts come with another bug: you can see the first image attached to the post, whereas the alt texts displayed belong to image 2 and 3 > see the original post here: https://pixelfed.social/p/irfan/611155684845967802
