why the hell is this happening so much today

Meanwhile, Fields is doing what he's done his whole career: play just well enough that you want to see a franchise QB there but not well enough that you're convinced

I think Braxton is too good to be a swing tackle. If we could get a good return for Braxton in a trade, I'd be OK with picking one of the prospects, though.

Idk about Latu specifically, but if you put a gun to my head and made me pick right now, I'd say 2, then 1, then 3. I don't see the point in using valuable draft capital on a mid-first-round type QB when we have Fields, who I think is performing at the level you typically expect from a mid-first-round QB

That being said, I really hope that over the next 7 games, Fields convinces us all that case 1 is the best option

God that'd be awesome

If we look decent in the Lions-Vikings-Lions-Browns gauntlet and finish with 6-7 wins, we'll have ended the season exactly as predicted, so it would feel a little reactionary to fire the coaches. That said, that's not very likely to happen. I'd also be all for us pulling a Cubs and going after a coach we really want, "fairness" to Eberflus be damned.

I think it rarely makes sense to fire a coach midseason barring exceptional circumstances (such as the circumstances causing us to drop a couple assistants this year). McDaniels was fired because his players essentially rose up against him, Urban Meyer was fired because he was assaulting his players and skipping team flights to dirty dance with college students. That stuff makes sense.

To me, stuff like firing Dorsey doesn't make sense (unless more info comes out!). He probably isn't a good OC, but also you're probably not finding someone better in the middle of the season. It's really "the team is worse than expected and the fans want blood," which probably really does give the fans some catharsis but the damage is already done until you get someone better in the offseason.

Hey everyone who's tired of Fields posts, guess what, this is the alternative

[–] t-pat@alien.top 1 points 2 years ago

I'll update my opinions as more information comes in, but in the meantime, I want to talk about the Bears, damn it!

Hmm, I wonder what the difference between Fields and Orton is, oh yeah, Fields ran for over 1000 yards at 7 yards per carry last year. Now he's running less and passing more and he's better than he was last year.

You can think we need to move on if we have a chance to draft Williams/Maye (I'm leaning that way) without saying absurd things like he's the same as Kyle Orton

I just hope he gets a chance to show one way or the other. When we played the Chiefs, the entire offensive unit was malfunctioning so badly that it was practically impossible to evaluate him.

Nagy was working miracles in 2018, too bad it didn't last lol
