My preferred network is ed2k/kad, but for new things bittorrent and then seed to both networks through mldonkey.

out of curiosity, which network do you use to seed?

[–] supervent@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 2 years ago

I use mldonkey 3.1.7 for ed2k/kad and bittorrent, in the past I have used dc++ for a short time, but I prefer the idea of ed2k/kad.

Well, I have running mldonkey for months non-stop without problems, only shutting up the system for updates. I used precompiled .deb from debian sid (I think it is not available anymore, but I am sharing through ed2k/kad). I am sorry that you had this problem, maybe it is because it is Ubuntu and not debian, who knows.

I use MLDonkey 3.1.7 (July 2020) with debian 12.

You can also test ed2k/kad networks, it has the speeds of multiple users and the flexibility to have the files as you want.

Well, the same files, but old files hold on better on ed2k/kad (easier to share and seed for as long as you can). But I know torrent is by far more popular, and usually I download new things from there and then seed on both networks through mldonkey. And no, you can not have the *arr suite on ed2k/kad, only torrent and usenet with specific clients.

You could try on ed2k/kad network through emule/amule/mldonkey there is a good comunity

I still use MLDonkey 3.1.7 (July 2020) on my debian server to connect to ed2k/kad and bittorrent and it works without any problems. It is very resource efficient but has a bit of a learning curve to set up and use.
