Well for calendar I use too the default app, but my usage it is pretty basic.

For me is good enough to not use the google ones.
It is better conceived eMule, because it is not dependent of a sole central server and have the hash of the files, permitting to download the same file from diferent clients.
For me the best is ed2k without locking files (soulseek) or good hubs hard to find (DC++).
Samsung browser (with adblock), spotify, Samsung email
Plex for movies/shows. For music spotify premium.
If they do not want to maintain and update a pihole, it is better to just use public dns, like adguard.
Why put a limit? Just infinite forever unless you have a cap in your connection.
Maybe you find what you are looking for on other p2p networks like ed2k/kad or dc++. For old content are usually better than public trackers.
for windows I recommend community version (November 2021). For Mac, aMule 2.3.3 (February 2021) and for GNU/Linux, mldonkey 3.1.7 (July 2020)
I just only know I have been using duckduckgo for years and for me is enough
