And here I thought they actually had a plan to try or atleast make an attempt to sort things out lol

Not OP, but yes, yes it is! This is what the internet should have been and can be in the future

This is my first time seeing a kbin and a Lemmy user interact with each other. I did conceptually understand the fediverse, but this actually puts it into perspective. That's amazing!

Yup this is massive and it's not a niche subreddit. That means, most likely, more will follow. Sure, reddit will probably force it back online with new mods or whatever, but THIS is how you make a statement. Hat's off r/videos!

Welcome! I've been here for a few days now and this reminds me of the reddit of old. You'll love it!

Spez is going to do an AMA tomorrow. That's definitely going to be interesting...

Remember Streetlamp LeMoose? There haven't been any such memorable events on reddit in recent years. What about the ol' switcheroo? You don't see that anymore.

They are indeed as you said, forgotten history to modern redditors. Back in the day, it was a closer community, and these events were discussed for days and referenced for months if not years.

Like you said, reddit has been consistently losing it's community aspect. I'm glad to have experienced it, but I think it's time to move on.

Very well thought out post and I agree with everything you've said. I still remember the outrage with Whatsapp and how everyone was moving to Signal. Once everything died down, people went back to their old habits and what was familiar to them.

I think we do have a sufficient number of users now to keep going irrespective of how reddit fares. Communities are beginning to form and even if there is no futher mass exodus from reddit, I think Lemmy will be fine and will see organic growth over time.

I've already noticed I'm spending more time of Lemmy than reddit since the past few days.
