DSIII/ER magic be like

What a fantastic post, thank you for linking it!

Seriously though, I do think that it's interesting that this comic and that essay seem to take up opposite positions*, but in each case they attract more contrary comments than ones that agree. I suppose no matter what you post, any given person is more likely to comment on it if it pisses them off than if it confirms their beliefs. It's a good thing Lemmy doesn't reward engagement, or else we'd be up to our eyeballs in ragebait, eh?

*Unless you read the whole thing instead of bouncing off the first paragraph.

Wait, wait. I'm worried what you just heard was, "Give me a lot of Parmesan cheese." What I said was, "Give me all the Parmesan cheese you have."

I've often dreamed of opening a restaurant just to indulge people's worst impulses: Huge burritos filled with nothing but sour cream and guacamole, sub sandwiches filled with triple-toppings and cheese without the customer even having to ask, steaming hot cups of milk and sugar without any bitter, nasty coffee -- and of course, punch bowls full of nothing but shredded Parmesan cheese and a spoon.

True, unless you need an answer right away from several subordinates, and don't want to wait two weeks for them to get back to you.

Effect: Enemies casually retreat, as if they chose to leave.

The Corporation for Public Broadcasting, the conduit for federal funds to NPR and PBS, announced on Friday that it is beginning to wind down its operations given President Trump has signed a law clawing back $1.1 billion in funding for public broadcasting through fiscal year 2027.

The announcement follows a largely party-line vote last month that approved the cuts to public broadcasting as part of a $9 billion rescissions package that also included cuts to foreign aid that was sent by the White House earlier this year. While public media officials had held a glimmer of hope that lawmakers would restore some of the money in the following year, the Senate Appropriations Committee declined to do that on Thursday.

It's called The Five C's of Cinematography: Motion Picture Filming Techniques and it's by Joseph V. Mascelli. Now YOU TOO can compose professional film shots like the ones seen in TISCWSLABMUZ! (I'm kidding, it appears to be a well-respected book on the subject.)

Sunday will apparently be the 20th anniversary of the book's release -- and today is Joseph's birthday! Ha! This was a secret birthday post all along! Happy birthday, Mr. Mascelli!
