Don't delete it. It's an area of the filesystem where the current user session data is kept. This includes things like sockets to communicate with other session components and lock files. It's usually hosted on a ram disk so takes up no space in the system and goes away when you shutdown your machine.

Have any actually passed yet? Sure LLMs can generate a lot of plausible text now better than previous generations of bots, but they still tend to give themselves away with their style of answering and random hallucinations.

Oh I don't mind it too much but I have a rich shell history 😀

Certainly when using the newer options things are more consistent easy to follow. However it's reputation for complexity isn't underserved because Qemu is very flexible in what it can do.

Libvirt/qemu with either virt-manager or cockpit to control them. Alternatively there are various wrapper projects for qemu that hide the complex command line from you.

Generally the ROM if it exists is very minimal and contains just enough to load the next stage of the boot process. Some devices can boot directly from flash and generally you want the ability to update the boot chain because these things are never perfect on release.

It's well worth reading the longer newsletter the above link quotes: https://www.wheresyoured.at/sam-altman-fried/

I kinda agree we are probably cresting the peak of the hype cycle right now.

Yes, I'll fix the comment.

I've heard of people waking up with accents but I'm not sure I've seen any cases where they speak an unfamiliar language fluently.

These black and white solutions are not tenable. My eldest got a phone when they moved up to secondary school. It's a useful tool for keeping in touch with their friends especially when most people don't have landlines any more. Their generation is growing up as digital natives and I don't think holding them back from phones will help them in the long run.

We do limit what apps can be installed though. They certainly want TikTok but so far we've said no and YouTube is only available on the family TV. So far they have not expressed any interest in getting access to social media although I do have to occasionally unblock Facebook because some of the homework links to videos on the site.

I know I'm probably in the minority in having enough digital skills to erect some barriers against the worst of the internet but I'm very much aware they will set it eventually. My hope is we've done enough to prepare them for that by the time the training wheels come off.

If you limit yourself to media created only by authors that past your particular purity test your going to have a very narrow view of the world. There is a reason the HP fandom is popular and I don't think it's because it's because it's made up of budding transphobes.

All the centralisation in podcasting is the content delivery network (where ads are placed for the commercial ones). Where the feed is hosted it's fairly irrelevant.

What's wrong with the software? They are client web devices and with crostini you can develop at a pinch. But they aren't meant to be laptop/desktop replacement.
